Winners<\/h2>\n

Liquid<\/b><\/h3>\n

Back in November, <\/span>I wrote about how it was time for Liquid to move on from YEKINDAR<\/span><\/a>, and now that moment has finally arrived. Bringing in the Israeli star <\/span>Guy \u201cNertZ\u201d Iluz <\/b>from <\/span>Heroic<\/b> is a serious upgrade in terms of firepower. This season, NertZ was on the verge of a top 20 finish, boasting an impressive <\/span>1.14<\/b> average rating compared to <\/span>YEKINDAR<\/b>\u2019s <\/span>1.02<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past two years, NertZ has been playing at a phenomenal level, with his<\/span> #14<\/b> spot in the <\/span>2023 top 20<\/b> as proof of that. His natural aggression and ability to rack up multi-kills make him a game-changer.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the big question now is how <\/span>Torbj\u00f8rn \u201cMithR\u201d Nyborg<\/b> will fit the pieces together on the T-side. That\u2019s been <\/span>Liquid<\/b>\u2019s primary weakness for a while now, and without a traditional entry fragger, it could remain an issue. Then again, in modern Counter-Strike, every player needs to be ready to take on the entry role when the situation demands it; it\u2019s all about adapting to the flow of the round.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Liquid\"<\/span><\/p>\n

On the <\/span>CT side<\/b>, NertZ only has two role clashes with <\/span>Twistzz<\/b>: <\/span>Mid <\/b>on <\/span>Ancient <\/b>and <\/span>Yard <\/b>on <\/span>Nuke<\/b>. With YEKINDAR\u2019s departure leaving the cave position on Ancient open, and given that many in-game leaders tend to take that role, it is possible Twistzz could fill that spot. However, this is still uncertain. When it comes to Nuke, it is hard to say anything definitive, and for now, any guesses would be purely speculative.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s obvious that Liquid made a solid upgrade, and I truly believe they\u2019ll see much better results, and more consistently.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faze<\/b><\/h3>\n

FaZe took a big hit with the departure of <\/span>ropz<\/b>, who had been a fixture in the<\/span> top 20<\/b> for <\/span>seven straight<\/b> seasons. While his form dipped in the second half of the year, losing a player of his caliber was still a<\/span> blow<\/b>. To fill the gap, they brought in<\/span> Jonathan \u201cEliGE\u201d Jablonowski <\/b>from <\/span>Complexity<\/b>. Once again, we\u2019re seeing one of North America\u2019s best players leaving his home region for Europe, where he\u2019ll be surrounded by stronger teammates, face tougher competition, and have better chances to win the game\u2019s most prestigious tournaments.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Faze\"<\/p>\n

This year, EliGE made his way back into the<\/span> top 20 <\/b>rankings, landing at <\/span>#19<\/b> after a two-year absence. Considering his stats and the consistency he displayed throughout the year, despite playing on a team that lacked firepower and didn\u2019t get to compete in as many top-tier tournaments as they would\u2019ve liked, it\u2019s clear EliGE still has plenty of potential to climb even higher next season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Signing EliGE solves several issues for <\/span>FaZe<\/b>, especially on the <\/span>T-side<\/b>. The previous roster with ropz often struggled with role clashes, but the lineup seems more balanced now. On the T side, EliGE is expected to retain most of the positions he played in Complexity, while<\/span> frozen<\/b> will likely take over the roles ropz used to play, ones that suit him naturally. Meanwhile, <\/span>rain<\/b>\u2019s versatility means that he will probably adapt to any necessary adjustments. With EliGE\u2019s aggressive playstyle added to the mix, FaZe\u2019s T-side looks well-rounded and much more dynamic.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>real challenge<\/b>, though, will be on the <\/span>CT-side<\/b>. Losing ropz means they no longer have a dedicated hard anchor, and there are still questions about how positions will be distributed. At this stage, it\u2019s hard to speculate, but much will depend on how coach<\/span> NEO <\/b>and <\/span>karrigan<\/b> decide to shape the lineup. The most likely scenario is that frozen will step into the anchor role, while rain and EliGE share the star roles, with a greater emphasis placed on EliGE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Falcons<\/b><\/h3>\n

When it comes to<\/span> Falcons<\/b>, they\u2019re easily one of the winners of this roster shuffle, mainly because they\u2019ve signed <\/span>Nikola \u201cNiKo\u201d Kova\u010d<\/b>, who alone brings more weight to the team than any past roster iteration.<\/span><\/p>\n

But to be honest, Falcons have sort of been on the losing end in <\/span>every<\/b> past roster shuffle, as they never seem to settle on a lineup they truly want. This time is no different, especially after all the speculation around bringing in <\/span>m0NESY<\/b> and <\/span>Jimpphat<\/b>, which ultimately didn\u2019t happen.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to NiKo, they\u2019ve brought in a strong core from <\/span>Heroic<\/b>, including <\/span>kyxsan<\/b>, <\/span>TeSeS<\/b>, and <\/span>degster<\/b>, which has helped them secure <\/span>8<\/b>th place in the<\/span> Valve Global Rankings<\/span><\/a>. This should earn them invites to some of the biggest tournaments. <\/span>Damjan \u201dkyxsan\u201d Stoilkovski<\/b>, in particular, is a young and flexible <\/span>IGL<\/b> who, unlike the typical IGLs, can often deliver high frag numbers and really make an impact in games.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falcons\"<\/p>\n

That said, there\u2019s a bit of a role clash with NiKo on the<\/span> T-side<\/b> on pretty much every map, <\/span>except for<\/b> Inferno<\/b>. So, it\u2019ll be interesting to see how<\/span> zonic<\/b> adjusts the roles for <\/span>Magisk<\/b> and TeSeS on T-side to make sure NiKo stays in his comfort zone. (The only map where kyxsan clashes with NiKo on T-side is <\/span>Dust2<\/b>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

On the <\/span>CT-side<\/b>, things are a bit easier, since there are two maps,<\/span> Inferno <\/b>and <\/span>Nuke<\/b>, where NiKo doesn\u2019t have any positional clashes. My guess is that TeSeS will be moved around the most from his current positions, both on the CT and T-side.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vitality<\/b><\/h3>\n

<\/b>As for <\/span>Vitality<\/b>, <\/span>ropz <\/b>joined the team after his contract with <\/span>FaZe <\/b>ended, stepping in for <\/span>Spinx<\/b>, who wanted to explore other options due to <\/span>dissatisfaction<\/b>. ropz is a top-tier player, but in the second half of the year, he seemed to go through a bit of a \u201c<\/span>slump<\/b>.\u201d That said, it wasn\u2019t as severe as it may have seemed, mainly because we\u2019re so accustomed to his amazing performances. Even with that slump, he still managed to finish in the <\/span>top 20<\/b>, ending up in <\/span>18<\/b>th place, marking his seventh consecutive appearance in the top 20.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Vitality\"<\/p>\n

In terms of positions, on the<\/span> T-side<\/b>, there are some overlaps with <\/span>mezii <\/b>on three maps: <\/span>Mirage<\/b>, <\/span>Anubis<\/b>, and <\/span>Ancient<\/b>. I believe mezii will be moving to new positions, while ropz will be left to do what he does best in his preferred spots, where he\u2019s undoubtedly among the best.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the<\/span> CT-side<\/b>, things are a little more complicated. His positions overlap with <\/span>flameZ <\/b>and mezii, except on <\/span>Mirage<\/b>, where <\/span>apEX<\/b> takes his spot. So, it\u2019ll be interesting to see what the coach, along with apEX, decides to do with positioning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Virtus.Pro<\/b><\/h3>\n

Virtus.Pro<\/b> has made three major roster changes, parting ways with <\/span>n0rb3r7<\/b>, <\/span>Jame,<\/b> and coach <\/span>Xoma<\/b>. I\u2019d call this move a step in the right direction, mainly because it puts an end to Jame\u2019s overly passive philosophy and rigid style. It\u2019s the perfect time for Virtus.pro to hit the reset button and embrace a fresh approach.<\/span><\/p>\n

The team has brought in <\/span>Timur \u201cFL4MUS\u201d Marev<\/b> from <\/span>GamerLegion <\/b>and sniper <\/span>Kaisar \u201cICY\u201d Faiznurov<\/b> from <\/span>Cloud9<\/b>. I recently highlighted both FL4MUS and ICY in an article about the <\/span>top five young players from the RMR<\/span><\/a>. Timur stood out to me as a hyper-aggressive player with lots of strengths, and he\u2019s been recruited to create space on the<\/span> T-side<\/b>. As for Kaisar, the big question is whether he can address the issues I\u2019ve previously mentioned about his game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Virtus.Pro\"<\/p>\n

Another major question is <\/span>electroNic<\/b>\u2018s ability, as he\u2019s had plenty of opportunities and resources after leaving <\/span>Na\u2019Vi<\/b> to create a solid roster, but each time, he\u2019s come up short.<\/span><\/p>\n

Losers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Heroic<\/b><\/h3>\n

Heroic<\/b> has undergone a complete roster overhaul after selling their core trio of <\/span>kyxsan<\/b>, <\/span>degster<\/b>, and <\/span>TeSeS <\/b>to <\/span>Falcons<\/b>, <\/span>NertZ <\/b>to <\/span>Liquid<\/b>, and finally releasing <\/span>sjuush<\/b> to explore his options on the market. They brought in the trio of <\/span>LNZ<\/b>, <\/span>xfl0ud<\/b>, and <\/span>yxngstxr <\/b>from <\/span>Sangal<\/b> to maintain a decent Valve Global Ranking, while <\/span>maden<\/b> and <\/span>SunPayus<\/b> were acquired as a package deal from Falcons. Additionally, they signed<\/span> Andrey \u201ctN1R\u201d Tatarinovich <\/b>from <\/span>GUN5 <\/b>and<\/span> Linus \u201dnilo\u201d Bergman<\/b> from <\/span>Metizport<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Currently, they have seven players on their roster, and we\u2019re yet to see what<\/span> Eetu \u201csAw\u201d Saha <\/b>plans to do with this lineup. They\u2019re entering the new year with a long-term plan, focused on slowly rebuilding the team. It\u2019s clear they\u2019re not in a rush for immediate success but are taking a more gradual approach to raising the team\u2019s level. In the next few months, we\u2019ll likely see if any roster changes are needed or if things will come together and exceed expectations. But even with that, I\u2019m pretty confident that this lineup<\/span> won\u2019t be able to match the success they had in the past<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

From a financial and business perspective, this move seems solid, with rumored earnings being astronomical for the esports scene. However, the trade-off has been a significant drop in <\/span>roster quality<\/b>, and it\u2019s evident that Heroic is no longer aiming for dominance at the top tier of global Counter-Strike.<\/span><\/p>\n

MOUZ<\/b><\/h3>\n

As for <\/span>MOUZ<\/b>, I see them as losers because they <\/span>haven\u2019t made any significant changes<\/b>. Throughout 2024, they didn\u2019t achieve anything noteworthy, and it wasn\u2019t until the<\/span> Shanghai Major <\/b>that they managed to put together a decent run. However, they were completely demolished by<\/span> Spirit <\/b>in the semifinals, especially on the second and third map.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"MOUZ\"<\/span><\/p>\n

On paper, their roster looks solid and strong, but it\u2019s clear something<\/span> isn\u2019t clicking<\/b>. They have a young team with a lot of potential, but the big question is whether MOUZ has the luxury of time, hoping everything will eventually fall into place, and they\u2019ll start playing the way people expect of them. A big win for them is securing <\/span>Jimi \u201cJimpphat\u201d Salo<\/b>\u2019s contract extension, as he\u2019s one of the best players in the world in his roles.<\/span><\/p>\n

G2<\/b><\/h3>\n

G2<\/b> is undoubtedly one of the biggest losers in this roster shuffle, mainly because they lost <\/span>Nikola \u201cNiKo\u201d Kova\u010d<\/b>, a world-class rifler who is <\/span>almost impossible to replace<\/b>. <\/span>MalbsMd <\/b>has stepped into NiKo\u2019s roles, while the team brought in Israeli player <\/span>Nikita \u201cHeavyGod\u201d Martynenko <\/b>from <\/span>Cloud9<\/b> to cover the positions previously held by the Guatemalan rifler.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"G2\"<\/p>\n

While Nikita has made notable progress over the past two years, climbing the ranks from <\/span>Endpoint<\/b> to <\/span>OG<\/b> and then to Cloud9, comparing him to NiKo feels completely sacrilegious. This year, Nikita has delivered strong performances, maintaining a <\/span>1.15 rating<\/b> with a <\/span>1.15 impact <\/b>and shining during his time with both OG and C9.<\/span><\/p>\n

A drop in G2\u2019s performance is to be expected, and the real question now is how the Polish duo of <\/span>Wiktor \u201cTaZ\u201d Wojtas<\/b> and <\/span>Janusz \u201cSnax\u201d Pogorzelski<\/b> will manage to soften the blow of losing NiKo and help G2 find their footing without one of their most iconic players.<\/span><\/p>\n

We can also turn our attention to <\/span>m0NESY<\/b>, who was linked with a potential move to Falcons alongside NiKo. He starts the new year as the second-best player in the world, and now we\u2019ll see how much NiKo\u2019s presence influenced his performance and the team\u2019s overall success.<\/span><\/p>\n

Complexity<\/b><\/h3>\n

Complexity<\/b> has definitely come out on the losing side of this roster shuffle, mainly because they lost their star player, <\/span>EliGE<\/b>, who\u2019s now with <\/span>FaZe<\/b>. Along with him, <\/span>floppy<\/b> has been benched after the Major. To replace them, Complexity has decided to bring in two American players, sticking with their NA roots. The new faces are <\/span>Danny \u201ccxzi\u201d Strzelczyk <\/b>and <\/span>Nick \u201cnicx\u201d Lee<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Complexity\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Of the two, cxzi is the more familiar name. He\u2019s been around for a while and has an<\/span> S-tier tournament<\/b> appearance under his belt, playing at <\/span>ESL Pro League 2020 <\/b>with <\/span>Gen.G<\/b>. Since then, though, he\u2019s mostly stuck to<\/span> B-tier <\/b>events.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for the other player, there isn\u2019t much information. He doesn\u2019t have much experience and has only played a few NA tournaments, like <\/span>Fragadelphia<\/b>. Recently, he trialed with <\/span>Nouns<\/b>, but ultimately accepted an offer from Complexity.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s tough to say how these two will perform, given that this is their first season at a higher tier. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if they face challenges adjusting to this level.<\/span><\/p>\n

SAW<\/b><\/h3>\n

With the departure of <\/span>ewjerkz<\/b> and <\/span>arrozdoce<\/b>, <\/span>SAW <\/b>is trying to rebuild by bringing in<\/span> Ag1l <\/b>and <\/span>Shr<\/b>. Considering that they\u2019ve lost their two strongest individual players, it\u2019s safe to say<\/span> we won\u2019t see the same level of performance anytime soon<\/b>. They\u2019re definitely one of the losers in this roster shuffle. SAW is limited to local players, and while they speak Portuguese, we\u2019ve seen them work with foreign coaches who didn\u2019t speak the language.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"SAW\"<\/p>\n

Both new players come from a lower tier and are making a big leap by joining the most successful Portuguese organization. While they might have solid individual skill and raw aim, just like the previous star riflers, there\u2019s still some skepticism about whether they can fill the void left by ewjerkz and arrozdoce. <\/span>MUTiRiS<\/b> was the driving force behind SAW\u2019s success, so whether he and the new acquisitions can find the right chemistry will be crucial in determining if they can regain their former form.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
