A few weeks have passed since <\/span>Team Vitality <\/b>cemented itself as one of the most successful lineups in the history of professional Counter-Strike. Thirty-four consecutive best-of-three\/five wins, seven trophies in a row, and all seven MVPs going to <\/span>Mathieu \u201cZywOo\u201d Herbaut<\/b>. Vitality had a truly spectacular season\u2014one that will be remembered in the history books forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

But amidst titans like <\/span>ZywOo<\/b>, <\/span>apEX<\/b>, <\/span>ropz<\/b>, <\/span>mezii<\/b>, <\/span>flameZ<\/b>, and other superstars like <\/span>donk<\/b>\u2014who was, as always, performing at an incredibly high level\u2014and even <\/span>s1mple<\/b>\u2019s impressive return to Majors, many other competitors either made a strong impression in their Major debuts or reminded us they\u2019re still among the best. Conveniently enough, a lot of them carried the Brazilian flag on the big stage.<\/span><\/p>\n

After previously spotlighting TheMongolZ and players like 910 and Senzu in <\/span>Asia\u2019s Finest: The MongolZ at the Austin Major<\/span><\/a>, it\u2019s time to turn our attention to three individuals who, while falling short of a Grand Final appearance, helped deliver one of the most successful Majors for Brazilian Counter-Strike since the golden days of <\/span>coldzera<\/b>, <\/span>FalleN<\/b>, <\/span>TACO<\/b>, and<\/span> fer<\/b> with <\/span>Luminosity <\/b>and <\/span>SK Gaming<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Brazilian Turret\u201d \u2013 yuurih<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\u201cThe<\/p>\n

The first name on the list is far from unknown. Since joining <\/span>FURIA <\/b>in 2017, <\/span>Yuri \u201cyuurih\u201d Santos<\/b> has consistently shown his impact, eventually becoming the trusted Sancho Panza to <\/span>Kaike \u201cKSCERATO\u201d Cerato<\/b>\u2019s Don Quixote. Unlike Cervantes\u2019s novel, however, the duo seems committed to their shared dream of returning FURIA to the top\u2014and in this new <\/span>YEKINDAR<\/b>\u2013 and<\/span> molodoy<\/b>-led version of the team, yuurih might just be the key to keeping that dream alive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heading into the <\/span>BLAST Austin Major<\/b>, yuurih was already a veteran with eight Majors under his belt. Once considered one of the world\u2019s best riflers\u2014ranked <\/span>#14<\/b> and <\/span>#19<\/b> in <\/span>HLTV\u2019s Top 20<\/b> in 2020 and 2022\u2014his form had dipped alongside FURIA\u2019s struggles. He ended 2024 with a modest <\/span>1.09<\/b> rating and had only surpassed a <\/span>1.10<\/b> rating at three of the eight events FURIA played in 2025 prior to the Major.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the arrival of YEKINDAR and molodoy seemed like a spark. While the two CIS imports initially drew the spotlight with standout performances at <\/span>IEM Dallas<\/b> and Stage 2 of the Major\u2014where YEKINDAR (<\/span>1.32<\/b>) and KSCERATO (<\/span>1.29<\/b>) led FURIA through wins over <\/span>B8<\/b>, <\/span>M80<\/b>, and <\/span>Lynn Vision<\/b>\u2014yuurih (<\/span>1.06<\/b>) was quietly regaining form.<\/span><\/p>\n

With two aggressive new elements enabling a more structured setup, both yuurih and KSCERATO rediscovered some of their old firepower. The duo reverted to their roles as defensive anchor towers\u2014consistently reliable in high-pressure bombsite holds. We saw glimmers of this resurgence in yuurih\u2019s <\/span>17-17<\/b> performance against <\/span>The MongolZ<\/b> in the opening round, where his frags were fewer but pivotal. Against<\/span> Aurora<\/b>, his impact wasn\u2019t measured in kill count (<\/span>16-9 <\/b>win, <\/span>13-7 <\/b>overall scoreline) but in timing and composure under pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n

His true moment came in the<\/span> 2-0 victory <\/b>over <\/span>Virtus.pro<\/b>, which secured FURIA a playoff berth. On Mirage, yuurih unleashed a monstrous <\/span>20-5 <\/b>performance, posting a<\/span> 2.22 <\/b>rating\u2014his best-ever map at a Major. While he didn\u2019t replicate that dominance on Train, it wasn\u2019t needed\u2014FURIA closed the map<\/span> 13-5<\/b> with yuurih still sharp.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately for him and FURIA, their run ended in the Quarterfinals after falling to fellow Brazilians from <\/span>paiN<\/b>. Still, yuurih topped the scoreboard once again with a <\/span>53-44<\/b> series and remained a stabilizing force in the team\u2019s defense.<\/span><\/p>\n

It may be premature to claim yuurih is back at peak form, but posting his second-best Major performance\u2014only behind <\/span>IEM Rio 2022<\/b>\u2014feels like a clear sign. The tunnel may be long, but there\u2019s definitely light at the end of it for one of modern Brazil\u2019s finest.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Forgotten Prodigy\u201d \u2013 dumau<\/b><\/h2>\n

\"\u201cThe<\/span><\/p>\n

Many fans have grown weary of the \u201cnext Brazilian superstar\u201d tag often tied to 21-year-old <\/span>Eduardo \u201cdumau\u201d Wolkmer<\/b>. Since first making waves during the <\/span>PGL Stockholm Major<\/b> in 2021 with <\/span>GODSENT<\/b>, dumau and his partner-in-crime <\/span>latto <\/b>became hyped prospects. Despite domestic success and flashes of brilliance, the duo struggled to break through at big events\u2014especially Majors. After three attempts and three early exits in the Challengers stages, questions lingered: would dumau ever truly break out?<\/span><\/p>\n

Thankfully, he caught the last train to prove his doubters wrong\u2014and did so in spectacular fashion.<\/span><\/p>\n

After <\/span>Bestia <\/b>failed to finalize the necessary documentation to attend the Austin Major, dumau\u2019s Legacy squad, who had lost the <\/span>South American RMR<\/b> decider to them, got a second chance. They entered the tournament as heavy underdogs but shocked the world by advancing through Stage 1 after a 1-2 start, followed by clutch Bo3 wins against<\/span> Imperial <\/b>and <\/span>Wildcard<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Stage 2, Legacy built momentum with Bo1 wins against <\/span>MIBR <\/b>and <\/span>3DMAX<\/b>, eventually reaching a <\/span>2-0 <\/b>game against <\/span>FaZe Clan<\/b>. And incredibly, they beat them. A clean <\/span>2-0 <\/b>over a lineup featuring <\/span>karrigan<\/b> and <\/span>s1mple<\/b>\u2014powered by dumau\u2019s monstrous T-side play\u2014saw him end the match with a <\/span>34-26 K-D<\/b>, <\/span>1.33 <\/b>rating, and <\/span>10 opening kills <\/b>across Mirage and Dust2.<\/span><\/p>\n

As if that weren\u2019t enough, Legacy then took down <\/span>Vitality<\/b> on Inferno\u2014becoming just the second team in 2025 to take a map off the dominant French-led squad. While others on Legacy stepped up, dumau\u2019s disruption of <\/span>apEX<\/b>\u2019s banana control was crucial to the <\/span>13-3 <\/b>thrashing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Legacy\u2019s fairytale ended in heartbreak after losing a close series to <\/span>MOUZ<\/b> in the <\/span>2-2 <\/b>decider, falling just short of the playoffs. But dumau still finished the event as the fourth-highest-rated player overall (<\/span>1.29<\/b>), behind only <\/span>Senzu<\/b>, <\/span>donk<\/b>, and <\/span>ZywOo<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He has the confidence, raw aim, and aggressive instincts to go toe-to-toe with the best. Just as importantly, he has the character\u2014unafraid to shout down opponents and inject life into his team. His energy alone could rival the 16,000 fans in the playoff arena.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dumau is still just 21. The next step? Proving Austin wasn\u2019t a fluke\u2014but the first chapter in a much bigger story.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Next AWP Hope\u201d \u2013 nqz\"\u201cThe<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Anyone closely following Brazilian CS knows the region has been suffering from a serious AWP void in recent years. The glory days of <\/span>FalleN <\/b>and <\/span>HEN1<\/b> are long gone, and recycled names like<\/span> saffee <\/b>haven\u2019t quite broken through at the highest tier. But over the past few months, a few promising snipers have emerged\u2014chief among them: <\/span>Lucas \u201cnqz\u201d Soares<\/b> of <\/span>paiN Gaming<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Though just 19 years old, nqz isn\u2019t new to the scene. He made his Major debut in 2022 with <\/span>9z<\/b> and has since worn the jerseys of <\/span>Legacy<\/b> and<\/span> 00Nation <\/b>before joining paiN. Despite a snappy, CS:GO-esque style with the AWP, his inconsistency in key matches had always been a concern.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s changed in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even amid roster changes, nqz posted a <\/span>1.12 <\/b>rating at <\/span>PGL Cluj-Napoca <\/b>and a career-best <\/span>1.13<\/b> at <\/span>PGL Bucharest<\/b>, despite paiN going <\/span>0-3<\/b>. His highs were starting to show\u2014even if the team wasn\u2019t yet delivering.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the BLAST Austin Major, paiN began in Stage 2 and became the only team to start there and reach the semifinals. After losing two Bo1s in Stage 3, they rebounded with consecutive wins over <\/span>Nemiga<\/b>, <\/span>3DMAX<\/b>, and <\/span>Virtus.pro<\/b>. They then stunned<\/span> FURIA<\/b> in a Brazilian derby that many consider one of the tournament\u2019s biggest upsets.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the heart of it all was nqz.<\/span><\/p>\n

He posted a career-best Major and Big Event performance: <\/span>1.14 <\/b>rating in Stage 3, top-fragging and providing consistent impact every step of the way. His two highest-rated Major maps came in the <\/span>2-0<\/b> over VP, but his masterpiece was the decider against FURIA. A <\/span>29-18 <\/b>Inferno with high-pressure rounds, clean banana control, and clutch impact\u2014sealing a <\/span>16-12<\/b> OT win in the Quarterfinal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"nqz\"<\/span><\/p>\n

nqz proved he can be more than just a streaky talent\u2014he can thrive in front of the crowd, on the big stage, against the best.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether this marks the beginning of a star AWPer or just a flash of brilliance remains to be seen. But his mechanics, intelligence, and ability to rise in big moments suggest that Brazil\u2019s AWP legacy might still have a future.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
