However, the update had the opposite effect, causing noticeable FPS drops for many users and negatively affecting gameplay and the overall player experience.<\/p>\n<h2>The Core of the Problem<\/h2>\n<p>One of the first players to highlight the issue was fREQUENCYCS, a user on platform X. He noted that his FPS dropped significantly after the animgraph update:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"custom-bq\"><div class=\"custom-bq-q\"><p>\u201cMy framerate has been lower than usual after the animgraph update, and I had really bad frames for an entire round until it ended. I\u2019ve gotten a few emails about similar stuff, some people said FPS drops during spectating, others mentioned they had to restart the game after a couple of matches to get back to normal. User Spaceturtle expressed a more skeptical view of the complaints, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"custom-bq\"><div class=\"custom-bq-q\"><p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t call 350fps \u2018really bad\u2019 in any way even if it\u2019s like -40%.\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n<p>In response, fREQUENCYCS emphasized the importance of perspective:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"custom-bq\"><div class=\"custom-bq-q\"><p>\u201cKeep in mind that it\u2019s all about perspective. Not about the raw number of frames but how much it dips, the duration of the drop and the initial (ish) value of your average framerate.\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n<p>Other players also joined the discussion. User deafZEVS stressed how crucial stability is in competitive gameplay:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"custom-bq\"><div class=\"custom-bq-q\"><p>\u201cNo other competitive community of FPS gamers would agree with drops that massive. Even if you only have a 160Hz monitor, going from 500 to 300 \u2014 you will still feel the system hitch, and if this happens during a gunfight it is always extremely frustrating.\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n<p>Player Reason shared a similar experience:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"custom-bq\"><div class=\"custom-bq-q\"><p>\u201cWhen your frames drop from 420 to 260 it\u2019s extremely jarring. On my PC, whenever I\u2019m playing Valve DM, at the beginning of the match I\u2019m getting 300 FPS, while in the last 2-3 minutes I\u2019m getting ~90\u2013120.\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can read the full discussion in the original post on platform X (link).<\/p>\n<h2>Waiting for a Fix<\/h2>\n<p>As of now, Valve has not issued an official statement regarding this issue. Players are left to deal with the situation on their own, primarily by restarting the game. Given the scale and impact of the problem on gameplay quality, the community is expecting a swift and effective response from the developers.
