After the loud victory at BLAST Open London, G2\u2019s new roster drew the attention of the entire scene. However, the team\u2019s head coach Eetu \u201csAw\u201d Saha urges calm: success came too quickly, and the real challenge will be repeating it. In a conversation with journalists, the Finn shared his thoughts on his first steps with G2, huNter-\u2019s new role, and why consistency is now more important than loud trophies.<\/p>\n

WHO IS SAW<\/strong><\/h2>\n

33-year-old Eetu \u201csAw\u201d Saha is one of the most renowned coaches from Finland. His coaching path began with HAVU, after which he gained recognition with ENCE, where the team won international trophies and consistently remained among the top of the world rankings. In 2023, sAw joined Heroic, but after a year and a half, he became the new coach of G2.<\/p>\n

His first months with the European mix proved to be extremely successful: already at their third tournament together, G2 won BLAST Open London 2025. But Saha himself emphasizes: this result is more of an advance than a guarantee of stability.<\/p>\n

G2 AFTER LONDON<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The victory in London was a real breakthrough for the new roster. But sAw stresses that repeating such a level of play will not be easy:<\/p>\n

Honestly, I didn\u2019t expect us to win a tournament so quickly. Many factors came together \u2014 individual form of the players, working strategy, key rounds won. That was a peak, and now the main question is how to maintain it.<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n

START AT FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For G2, the FISSURE Playground 2 tournament became the first serious test after the triumph in London. In the group stage, the team played inconsistently: the opening matches showed that the euphoria after a big victory can quickly turn into cold reality.<\/p>\n

  1. Their first opponent was the Chinese team Lynn Vision, and although the 2:0 score looked convincing, the match itself was nervous. On Inferno, G2 struggled to establish communication on the T side, lost control of the economy, and only thanks to the individual play of SunPayus avoided a prolonged defensive streak from their opponents. Dust2 was more controlled, but still required effort to avoid a comeback.<\/li>\n
  2. The second challenge was FURIA, who came into the match in excellent form. The Brazilians surprised G2 with an Overpass pick, a map they rarely used before, and that surprise played a key role. G2 lost initiative on the T side of Inferno and on Overpass conceded a comeback, losing in overtime. This was the first serious alarm bell \u2014 the team looked tired after a tight schedule, and their communication was faltering.<\/li>\n
  3. In the third match against Legacy, G2 once again showed two different sides. The first map was chaotic \u2014 many individual mistakes, mistimed rotations, and economic losses. But on the second map, the team pulled together: huNter- set the pace, and SunPayus dominated with the AWP. The 2:0 score guaranteed them continued competition, but even after the victory, the coach admitted that the game was still far from the level G2 showed in London.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We started slow and couldn\u2019t replicate the BLAST level. But matches like these are important \u2014 they show where we need to improve communication and energy.<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n

    HUNTER-\u2019S ROLE AND THE SUNPAYUS FACTOR<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    sAw paid special attention to the new in-game leader Nemanja \u201chuNter-\u201d Kova\u010d. According to him, the Serbian player quickly adapted to the role, which had long remained undesirable for him:<\/p>\n

    He has a great vision of the game. He takes responsibility in the toughest moments, helps the younger players, and that makes him a real leader both in and outside the server.<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n

    Another important part of the adaptation was \u00c1lvaro \u201cSunPayus\u201d Garc\u00eda, who had previously worked with the coach at ENCE.<\/p>\n

    SunPayus understands my vision, adds confidence with his decisions, and constantly helps huNter- in building rounds. For such a young roster, that\u2019s a huge advantage.<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n

    LOOKING AHEAD<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Despite the loud start, G2 are not setting specific goals for FISSURE Playground 2. The main focus is development and stability, as the qualifiers for the next Major lie ahead.<\/p>\n

    Right now, the team is moving step by step, match by match, testing their potential with the new roster. The next challenge will be a clash against GamerLegion on September 16. This match will show whether G2 can regain confidence after the ups and downs of the group stage and prove that they are capable of competing at a consistent level, even when their form is far from optimal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
