At one point, the scenario looked almost inevitable, 3DMAX were slipping down the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), with their results collapsing at the worst possible time and the qualification for the Cologne Major was slowly drifting out of reach. A few weeks later, after a player change, the narrative has changed and the French lineup is back in the race, rebuilding momentum when it matters the most.<\/span><\/p>\n

The VRS system leaves very little room for inconsistency, where every match, every event, every LAN carries weight, and the smallest dip in form can push a team out of contention, and this is exactly what happened to 3DMAX earlier in the season. After a series of disappointing results, including early exits at key events, the team dropped significantly in the rankings, falling close to the danger zone outside the qualifying spots.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Critical Situation<\/b><\/h3>\n

Losses against lower-ranked opposition, including a defeat to M1X in an online qualifier, exposed the fragility of the project at the time. The confidence was gone, the structure looked unstable, and most importantly, the timing could not have been worse and with the VRS determining Major invitations, every missed opportunity had direct consequences to future events attended by the team.<\/span><\/p>\n

At that stage, 3DMAX were no longer controlling their own destiny, they desperately needed results and they needed other teams to slow down in order to close the gap, which was growing more and more while the pressure was building up with every update of the ranking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Changes A Necessary Reaction<\/b><\/h3>\n

The arrival of Misutaaa quickly brought a new layer of impact to 3DMAX, and his performance at ESL Pro League Season 23 highlighted his ability to deliver in key moments. During the group stage, he stood out in the victory against Team Liquid, finishing as the best performer of the server with 46 kills, over 120 ADR and a 1.91 rating, leading his team to a crucial 2-0 win .\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the event, he consistently contributed in important matches against teams such as FURIA, FUT and Gaimin Gladiators, helping 3DMAX secure multiple wins against established opposition . This level of individual output, combined with his experience at the highest level, reinforced the feeling that his addition gave 3DMAX the extra presence they were missing in decisive series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back Into Contention<\/b><\/h3>\n

The effect on the ranking followed quickly, from a position outside the top 20 in Europe, 3DMAX climbed back toward the qualification zone with their stellar performance in the ESL Pro League. And with Open LANs, the team will gain some crucial points if they can win against weaker opposition and could return to a position where qualification is once again realistic.<\/span><\/p>\n

For 3DMAX, the timing of this rebound is crucial. With the Major cycle approaching, the team has managed to reinsert itself into the conversation at the last moment. The pressure remains high, but the opportunity is alive again.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Different Kind of Momentum<\/b><\/h3>\n

What stands out in this comeback is the nature of the progress. This wasn\u2019t a dominant run, nor a sudden rise built on deep playoff finishes at tier one events but it is a controlled climb, based on getting back to the old 3DMAX that shined at the end of 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The current roster has found a more stable rhythm, while results remain imperfect, the direction is clear. The team no longer drops the matches it is expected to win and that alone changes everything in a ranking system like the VRS.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the limitations are still visible. The ceiling of the team has not changed overnight, the objective remains qualification first, not contention for titles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Final Stretch<\/b><\/h3>\n

The road to Cologne is still uncertain. The difference between qualification and elimination may come down to a handful of points. Every remaining event becomes decisive.<\/span><\/p>\n

3DMAX now enters the final stretch with renewed control over its future. The early mistakes have been partially erased. The gap has been reduced. The team has given itself a second chance.
