Before everything that followed, before the constant roster shuffles and near-misses, there was a version of FaZe that genuinely felt unstoppable. Back in 2017, with karrigan leading and NiKo as the star rifler, FaZe Clan were terrifying to play against. We may see the duo return, with potentially more wrath on display than even the golden era of FaZe Clan.<\/p>\n

One more superstar, but this time it\u2019s true. <\/span>karrigan<\/span> forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scrawny<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/blockquote>\n

FaZe\u2019s Golden Era with karrigan and NiKo<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It was one of the earliest true \u201csuperteams\u201d in CS, and unlike many that came after, this one actually delivered. With names like rain, olofmeister, GuardiaN, NiKo, and karrigan all on the roster at different points, FaZe didn\u2019t just rely on firepower, they had structure, identity, and a leader who could make it all work.<\/p>\n

Under karrigan, FaZe won multiple tier-one events. They lifted trophies at ESL One New York 2017, ELEAGUE Premier 2017, and IEM Sydney 2018. They went on deep runs consistently, and for a period, they were the best team in the world. What made them special wasn\u2019t just the wins, but the manner in which they played. They were explosive, unpredictable, yet somehow controlled. You had NiKo putting up absurd numbers, GuardiaN hitting impossible shots, and olofmeister bringing experience and clutch factor. But behind all of that was karrigan, calling the game, managing the tempo, and making sure it all didn\u2019t fall apart.<\/p>\n

They also came painfully close to the one thing that would have defined that era completely, the Major. The ELEAGUE Boston Major 2018 final still stands as one of the most heartbreaking losses in CS history. FaZe were one map away from cementing themselves as one of the greatest lineups ever. But Cloud9 happened. And in a way, that loss marked the beginning of the end for that version of the team.<\/p>\n

Even then, what that FaZe roster achieved under karrigan cannot be understated. They set the benchmark for what a superteam could look like when it actually functions. And more importantly, they showed what kind of leader karrigan really is.<\/p>\n

A New Chapter with Falcons<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Now fast forward to the present, and we are looking at a very different situation, but with familiar pieces. Karrigan is potentially joining Falcons ahead of the IEM Cologne Major 2026, reuniting not just with NiKo, but also with zonic. And that immediately raises the biggest question, can he make this work again?<\/p>\n

Because on paper, Falcons already resemble a superteam. They have star players, they have experience, and now they are bringing in one of the most proven leaders in the history of the game. But as we have seen time and time again, having big names doesn\u2019t guarantee success. The real challenge is making those pieces fit, and that is exactly where karrigan comes in.<\/p>\n

More Than an IGL, A True Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n

Karrigan is not just an IGL, he is a leader in the truest sense. There is a difference. You can have IGLs who are tactically sound, who can call decent rounds, but struggle when it comes to managing personalities. Karrigan has built his entire career on doing the opposite. He thrives in chaos. He understands how to get the best out of players with massive egos, different playstyles, and conflicting tendencies.<\/p>\n

We saw it in FaZe. We saw it again when he returned to rebuild the team and eventually won the Antwerp Major. And now, with Falcons, he is stepping into yet another environment where expectations are sky-high and the margin for error is almost nonexistent.<\/p>\n

Individual Impact Beyond the Scoreboard<\/strong><\/p>\n

One thing that often gets overlooked in discussions around karrigan is his individual level. People like to point at his stats and question his impact, but that has never been the full picture. He is not a liability individually. He knows his role, plays the hard positions, creates space, and more importantly, he delivers when it matters.<\/p>\n

And the reality is, he doesn\u2019t need to frag out like a star. That is not his job. His value lies in enabling everyone else to perform at their peak. If NiKo is putting up numbers, if the rest of the roster is comfortable and confident, that is karrigan doing his job perfectly.<\/p>\n

Reuniting with NiKo and zonic<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reunion with NiKo is particularly interesting. Their previous stint together was arguably the most successful period of NiKo\u2019s career in terms of team performance. There is already an understanding there, a level of trust that cannot be built overnight. NiKo also brings secondary calling into the mix, which only makes karrigan\u2019s job easier.<\/p>\n

And then there is zonic. Bringing together a proven coach like zonic with a leader like karrigan instantly elevates the ceiling of any team. Zonic has been part of one of the most dominant eras in CS history with Astralis, and his ability to structure a team, handle pressure, and prepare for big matches is second to none. Pairing that with karrigan\u2019s in-game leadership creates a combination that is both experienced and adaptable.<\/p>\n

The Real Challenge, Time and Pressure<\/strong><\/p>\n

But all of this still comes down to one thing, time. Falcons are not making this move for the long term alone. They are making it right before a Major. That means expectations are immediate. They will be aiming for deep runs, if not the title itself. And that is a massive ask.<\/p>\n

Integrating a new IGL, adjusting roles, building chemistry, all of that usually takes months. Karrigan has to do it in weeks. And while he has pulled off miracles before, this might be one of his toughest challenges yet. Because this is not just about building a system, it is about aligning a group of elite players under pressure, with very little room for error.<\/p>\n

So, Can He Make It Work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the same time, if there is one person you would trust in this situation, it is karrigan. His entire career has been defined by comebacks, rebuilds, and proving people wrong. He has been doubted, replaced, written off, and yet he keeps coming back stronger.<\/p>\n

If this <\/span>Karrigan<\/span> thing does go through, I\u2019d honestly love to see frozen move on as well to either <\/span>Falcons<\/span> with <\/span>Karrigan<\/span> or some other promising project.<\/span><\/p>\n

So can he make Falcons work? If history is anything to go by, you would be foolish to bet against him. Because when karrigan is at the helm, there is always a chance that something special is about to happen.<\/p>\n
