The opening days of a Major almost always bring at least one result that forces everyone to nervously reconsider their predictions. When favorites start collapsing this early, the tournament quickly turns not only into a battle between teams, but also into a real test for pick\u2019ems.<\/p>\n

Tournament context<\/strong><\/h2>\n

IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 1 is played in a Swiss format: the opening matches are Bo1, while elimination and advancement series are Bo3. In matches between teams with a 0:2 record, the price of a mistake is at its maximum: the winner stays alive in the tournament and moves into the 1:2 pool, while the loser is immediately eliminated from the Major.<\/p>\n
