At a Major, there are series after which a team\u2019s status changes sharply in just a few hours. That is exactly what 3:0 matches do: one roster gets a fast and clean ticket to the next stage, while the other, instead of a calm qualification, is forced back into the tense part of the Swiss stage.<\/p>\n

Tournament context<\/strong><\/h2>\n

IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 1 is played in a Swiss format: the opening matches are played as Bo1, while elimination and advancement series are Bo3. Matches between teams with a 2:0 record carry special weight, because a win immediately guarantees a place in Stage 2, while a loss does not eliminate a team from the tournament, but moves it into the 2:1 pool, where the right to make one more mistake becomes a much more limited resource.<\/p>\n
