Sometimes one match slot sharply changes the entire mood of a tournament. That is exactly what happened this time: two teams from whom much more was expected not only lost their margin for error, but were ultimately knocked out of the race for qualification.<\/p>\n

Tournament context<\/strong><\/h2>\n

IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 2 is played in a Swiss format, where each team either advances or moves closer to elimination depending on its current balance of wins and losses. Series with a 1:2 record are survival matches: a win moves a team into the 2:2 pool, where one final chance to qualify remains, while a loss means the end of the tournament run with a 1:3 finish.<\/p>\n
