Valve have officially confirmed one of the biggest CS2 map pool changes in recent memory. Premier Season Four will end on July 6, and with the launch of Season Five, Active Duty will undergo a major rotation: Overpass is leaving the pool, and Cache is taking its place.<\/p>\n

The most iconic map in Counter-Strike history<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For many players, the return of Cache became the main news, not just a technical season change. It is one of the most iconic maps in Counter-Strike history, one that stayed out of the main competitive pool for a long time but never disappeared from discussions about which map Valve should bring back next.<\/p>\n

Now the answer is official. Season Five in Premier will begin with a new Active Duty pool, and Cache will once again become part of the game\u2019s main competitive environment.<\/p>\n\n

Premier Season Four will end on July 6<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Valve also separately reminded players about the end of the current competitive cycle. Premier Season Four officially ends on July 6, which means players do not have much time left to complete all of the season\u2019s requirements before the final deadline.<\/p>\n

This is not only about taking part. To earn the Season Four medal, players must meet two specific conditions: have 25 wins in Premier Season Four and have a visible CSR at the moment the season ends. In other words, simply playing a few matches is not enough \u2014 Valve are once again tying the seasonal reward to meaningful activity in the ranked mode.<\/p>\n

Not everyone will receive the Season Four medal<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This point matters too, because some players traditionally remember seasonal rewards only in the final days. Valve\u2019s conditions are absolutely clear: if a player does not have 25 wins and an open CSR by the time the season ends, they will not receive the Season Four medal.<\/p>\n

In effect, this is another attempt to preserve the value of Premier medals. They are not awarded for simply entering the mode, but for putting in a fairly meaningful amount of play during the season. That is exactly why Premier activity will almost certainly rise noticeably again as July 6 approaches.<\/p>\n

Overpass leaves Active Duty<\/strong><\/h2>\n

But the main competitive headline is still not the medal, but the change in the map pool. Valve confirmed that for the Season Five Active Duty map pool, Overpass will be removed.<\/p>\n

This decision will definitely become the subject of major discussion. Overpass has long remained one of the most distinctive maps in the pool \u2014 with its own rhythm, a complex map-control structure, a strong emphasis on utility, and a very different tempo compared to more straightforward maps.<\/p>\n

For some, its departure is the loss of one of the most interesting tactical maps in CS. For others, it is a completely logical rotation that gives the pool some fresh air.<\/p>\n

Cache officially returns<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At the same time, the biggest beneficiary of this swap is Cache. Valve directly stated that in Season Five, it will take Overpass\u2019s place in Active Duty.<\/p>\n

And this is truly a major return. Cache is one of those maps that holds almost cult status within the community. It is associated both with older CS eras and with a huge number of iconic matches, as well as with a very clear, \u201cclean\u201d competitive design that was loved by both professionals and regular players.<\/p>\n

That is why its return to the main pool is not just a formal replacement of one tag in the menu. It is a change that will genuinely affect Premier, the professional scene, and the overall vibe around the game.<\/p>\n

What will change for players and teams<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For regular players, this means something fairly simple: they will have to adapt to the new season not only because of the soft reset or the fight for a new CSR, but also because of a different map in the main pool. Those who felt comfortable on Overpass are losing one of their strongest options. At the same time, Cache fans immediately get a strong reason to jump into Premier more actively.<\/p>\n

For competitive CS, the consequences are even more interesting. Any change in Active Duty automatically reshapes veto strategies, team comfort within the map pool, and preparation for official matches. Cache is a map with a very recognizable history, but its new life in CS2 will still have to be studied almost from scratch.<\/p>\n

Why Cache is one of the loudest possible replacements<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There has long been a feeling in the community that Cache remained one of the most obvious candidates for a return. It is a map with a big name, strong historical weight, and a structure clear enough for its comeback to immediately generate interest across a wide audience.<\/p>\n
