The event begins with two online elimination rounds before the eight surviving teams travel to Malta for the LAN Finals at BLAST Studios.

With a $1.15 million overall prize pool, multiple rebuilt rosters and several tier-two teams being allowed to select their own opponents, BLAST Bounty is once again positioned as one of the most unpredictable tournaments on the calendar. Major champions Falcons enter as the team to beat, but the format gives every underdog a direct opportunity to challenge the biggest names before they have fully settled into the new season.

Format & Bounty System

BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 features 32 invited teams, with 28 selected through the Global Valve Regional Standings and four receiving Wildcard invitations. The tournament is divided into two stages. The opening stage is played online from July 21 to 26. Two rounds of best-of-three, single-elimination matches reduce the field from 32 teams to eight. Those eight teams then travel to Malta, where the LAN Finals take place from July 30 to August 2. The quarter-finals and semi-finals are best-of-three series, while the tournament concludes with a best-of-five grand final.

The defining feature of BLAST Bounty is its opponent-selection system. Instead of receiving opponents through a completely random bracket, teams from the lower-seeded half select which higher-seeded team they want to face. The process turns the opening round into a tactical draft: underdogs can target a favorite they consider vulnerable, while leading teams must accept that their reputation may make them the most attractive opponent.

Every team also carries a bounty determined by its position in the tournament. When a team wins a match, it immediately earns 50% of its opponent’s bounty. The other half is added to the winner’s new bounty, making that team an increasingly valuable target in the following rounds.

This creates a constantly changing balance between risk and reward:

Higher-seeded teams begin with greater expectations and larger targets on their backs

Underdogs can choose opponents according to stylistic weaknesses rather than seeding alone

Eliminating a favorite provides both progression and an immediate financial reward

Successful teams become more valuable — and more attractive — with every victory

The tournament carries a total value of $1.15 million, consisting of $500,000 in competition prize money and $650,000 distributed through club-share payments.

S-Tier — Falcons, Vitality

Falcons and Vitality begin the tournament as the two clearest title contenders, although they enter it under very different circumstances.

Falcons arrive as the newly crowned IEM Cologne Major champions after defeating FURIA 3-0 in the grand final. The roster built around NiKo, m0NESY, kyousuke, TeSeS and karrigan has already achieved the result that was expected from such an expensive project. Their combination of elite firepower and karrigan’s experience makes them the most complete team at the event, while the Major victory should remove much of the pressure that followed Falcons throughout the first half of the year.

Their first opponent, however, will be one of the event’s most intriguing teams. The new 100 Thieves lineup deliberately selected Falcons, meaning the champions will immediately have to defend their status against device and a roster with almost nothing to lose.

Vitality remain the safest alternative. The team kept its established lineup of apEX, ZywOo, ropz, flameZ and mezii, giving it significantly more stability than most of the field. Their opening match against a recently rebuilt Liquid should be manageable, but Vitality will be judged by what happens after the online stage. Anything short of reaching Malta would be a major failure, while another title run would confirm that the disappointing end to their Cologne Major campaign was only a temporary setback.

A-Tier — Spirit, FURIA, Aurora, MOUZ

Spirit and FURIA are the most obvious challengers to the two leading favorites.

Spirit reached the semi-finals of the Cologne Major before losing to Falcons and still possess one of the strongest individual cores in the world. The return of zont1x and the addition of tN1R give the team a slightly different identity, but donk and sh1ro remain capable of carrying Spirit through any online matchup. OG should not present the greatest possible opening threat, although the single-elimination format leaves no room for a slow start.

FURIA enter after one of the best Major runs in the organization’s history. FalleN’s team reached the final in Cologne after eliminating Aurora in the semi-finals, confirming that the international project built around KSCERATO, yuurih, YEKINDAR and molodoy can compete for the biggest trophies. Their opening series against Sharks appears favorable, but FURIA must prove that the Major was not an isolated peak.

Aurora are one of the tournament’s biggest unknowns. The organization moved away from its fully Turkish lineup by signing kyxsan and Jimpphat, while ash replaced MAJ3R as coach. On paper, the roles make sense: kyxsan brings modern leadership, Jimpphat provides a highly reliable anchor, and XANTARES remains the team’s main source of firepower. However, changing the communication language and leadership structure immediately after reaching a Major semi-final is a major gamble. Their ceiling is high, but the new system may require more than one tournament to function properly.

MOUZ are undergoing a similarly significant transition. xertioN has taken over leadership duties, while xelex and PR complete a younger and less proven version of the roster. There is still enough firepower through Spinx and torzsi to make a deep run, but MOUZ no longer have the stability that once made them automatic playoff contenders. BLAST Bounty will provide an early indication of whether the rebuild has preserved the team’s championship potential.

B-Tier — G2, The MongolZ, FaZe, 100 Thieves, Astralis

G2 may have the highest ceiling of any team outside the leading group. HeavyGod, MATYS, r1nkle and NertZ give the roster considerable individual quality, while huNter- remains responsible for holding the structure together. The question is whether the team can immediately establish a clear identity after another major rebuild. Nemiga should be a beatable opening opponent, but G2’s real test will come against more structured tier-one opposition.

The MongolZ are also beginning a new era. The core of bLitz, Techno and 910 remains, but the additions of tikuak and DarkMeister mean that one of the scene’s most recognizable lineups must rebuild its chemistry. Their aggressive style remains dangerous in single-elimination matches, although HEROIC have enough discipline to punish any lack of coordination.

Photo Copyright by ESL

FaZe are no longer the experienced superteam that defined the organization for years. Twistzz now leads a younger roster featuring frozen, jcobbb, Neityu and new AWPer JBOEN. Early performances have provided reasons for optimism, particularly around JBOEN, but expectations should remain controlled until the lineup proves itself against established opposition. Their rematch against EYEBALLERS is especially notable after the Swedes eliminated FaZe at BLAST Bounty Season 1.

100 Thieves are difficult to rank because their individual potential appears much greater than their current body of results. device gives the team a genuine superstar, rain adds experience, and Gizmy’s performances at the Cologne Major suggested that he could become an effective tier-one leader. Selecting Falcons was either an inspired decision or an extremely short route out of the tournament. Even a competitive defeat could show that the project is moving in the right direction.

Astralis are another almost entirely new project. HooXi now leads a lineup featuring jabbi, Staehr, phzy and ryu, with NEO behind the team as coach. There are enough experienced pieces to create a functional tactical system, but it is still unclear where the roster’s consistent star-level output will come from. Their opening matchup against Nemesis should allow them to avoid immediate disaster, although anything beyond qualification for Malta would already represent an impressive debut.

C-Tier — GamerLegion, FUT, paiN, NIP, 3DMAX, HEROIC, Liquid

GamerLegion continue to operate as one of the most difficult teams to evaluate. The return of FL4MUS gives them greater firepower, while Snax leads a lineup that also includes REZ, Tauson and hypex. They can punish less experienced opponents, but their long-term ceiling remains uncertain.

FUT are capable of producing strong online performances, although their relatively young lineup is still searching for consistency against elite teams. Facing SINNERS gives them a realistic route into the second round, where the opponent-selection system could create a far more difficult test.

PaiN remain competitive within the Brazilian scene and have enough experience through biguzera and saffee to defeat lower-ranked European teams. However, the roster is still more likely to threaten favorites than to complete a full run to the LAN Finals.

NIP’s new lineup combines Snappi and the former Astralis duo of stavn and sjuush with xKacpersky and n0te. That core should eventually produce a structured team, but their opening match against M80 is dangerous. M80 are experienced, well-organized and strong enough to eliminate a roster that is still learning its system.

HEROIC have assembled an interesting Scandinavian lineup around Chr1zN, Brollan, nilo, susp and MartinezSa. There is significant individual upside, but facing The MongolZ in the opening round leaves little time for gradual development.

Liquid are beginning another rebuild after adding JT and changing the structure around NAF, EliGE and malbsMd. The lineup contains plenty of recognizable talent, but its first official test comes against Vitality. Expectations for immediate progression should therefore be extremely limited.

D-Tier — M80, Wildcard, magic, Nemiga, EYEBALLERS, Gentle Mates, Alliance

These teams are unlikely to challenge for the overall title, but several are capable of winning an opening series.

M80 have spent enough time together to punish NIP’s lack of preparation, while Wildcard should enter their match against Alliance with confidence. EYEBALLERS have already shown that they can defeat FaZe in this format and now have the opportunity to recreate one of Season 1’s biggest upsets.

Photo Copyright by ESL

Magic and Nemiga both face stronger but imperfect opponents in 3DMAX and G2. Neither should be favored, but both matchups are more competitive than the difference in name value might suggest.

Gentle Mates possess an experienced Spanish core and could trouble paiN in a slow, tactical series. Alliance, meanwhile, are one of the less proven teams in the field, but their opening match against Wildcard at least avoids an immediate meeting with one of the tournament favorites.

E-Tier — OG, HOTU, SINNERS, Nemesis, FOKUS, Sharks, Nuclear TigeRES

The remaining teams enter primarily as upset candidates.

OG have the most recognizable leader in this group after signing cadiaN, but facing Spirit makes their route exceptionally difficult. HOTU and SINNERS have more realistic opening matches against GamerLegion and FUT, although both will need to produce one of their strongest performances of the season.

Nemesis, FOKUS, Sharks and Nuclear TigeRES all selected opponents with substantially more experience at the highest level. FOKUS must face Aurora’s new international lineup, Sharks play Major finalists FURIA, Nuclear TigeRES meet MOUZ, and Nemesis take on Astralis.

Their chances of reaching Malta are low, but these are exactly the matchups the Bounty format is designed to create. The favorites have greater resources, stronger players and more experience. The underdogs have a single best-of-three in which they can make all of those advantages irrelevant.

Why BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 Matters

BLAST Bounty Season 2 arrives at an important moment in the competitive calendar. It is the first major event after the Cologne Major and the player break, meaning many teams will be debuting new players, new leaders or entirely new systems.

Falcons must prove that winning the Major was the beginning of an era rather than the culmination of one tournament. Vitality and Spirit need to respond after missing the final in Cologne. FURIA must confirm their status as a genuine championship contender. Aurora, MOUZ, G2, FaZe, Liquid, Astralis, NIP and 100 Thieves are all presenting heavily changed projects whose potential remains largely theoretical.

The format makes those uncertainties even more important. There is no group stage in which a favorite can recover from a poor opening day. Every series is an elimination match, and lower-seeded teams have already chosen opponents they believe they can defeat.

BLAST Bounty also has recent evidence that an outsider can win the entire tournament. PARIVISION entered Season 1 as an unlikely contender and left Malta as champion. The defending winner will not participate in Season 2, but its victory remains the clearest demonstration of what makes the event important: reputation determines the size of the bounty, not the result of the match.

For the favorites, BLAST Bounty is an early test of preparation and discipline. For the rebuilt teams, it is the first opportunity to show that their offseason decisions were correct. For the underdogs, it may be the best chance of the season to eliminate a global powerhouse, collect its bounty and turn one successful best-of-three into a run toward an S-Tier LAN title.

From July 21 to August 2, 32 teams will compete at BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2, the first major Counter-Strike tournament following the IEM Cologne Major and the summer player break.
