The summer break often creates the illusion of a fresh start. Rosters change, expectations reset, and every organization can promise that better days are coming. But the first half of 2026 has already changed what will be considered a success for many of them. Some must win, others must justify their decisions, while several projects simply cannot afford another disappointing season.<\/span><\/p>\n

BIG must prove that its return to the Major was not a one-off, while GamerLegion and B8 need to remain part of the qualification race. 9z, BetBoom, FUT and Legacy have already shown that they can compete at the highest level. Another Major appearance is no longer a bonus for them, but the minimum required to confirm their place in the scene. For others, even qualification will not be enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Winning Is the Only Acceptable Result<\/b><\/h2>\n

Vitality and Spirit carry the weight of ZywOo and donk<\/b><\/h3>\n

Vitality and Spirit do not need to prove that they belong among the elite. They need to win. Vitality collected five trophies during the first half of the season, while Spirit continues to build around the most dominant player of his generation. But when a team possesses ZywOo or donk, finals and top-three finishes are no longer enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams fell short in Cologne. For almost anyone else, their results would have been respectable. For Vitality and Spirit, letting a second Major in a row slip away would feel like a genuine failure. They can win other tournaments, but Majors are where the dominance of players like ZywOo and donk becomes history.<\/span><\/p>\n

NAVI and FURIA are fighting time<\/b><\/h3>\n

NAVI chose stability despite months of stagnation. The summer break offered another opportunity to change the roster, but the organization decided to keep its five. That choice turns the second half of the year into a verdict. If NAVI returns to winning, its patience will be rewarded. If the same limitations remain, refusing to make a move will look like wasted time.<\/span><\/p>\n

FURIA does not have that luxury. FalleN will retire at the end of 2026, making every remaining tournament more important. The team has already shown that it can reach the biggest finals, but now it must win one. The loss to Falcons in Cologne proved that FURIA is close enough to dream, but still short of the finish line. It also showed how few opportunities may remain to give FalleN one final great trophy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Moves That Must Pay Off<\/b><\/h2>\n

MOUZ and Aurora changed teams that already worked<\/b><\/h3>\n

MOUZ made a decision that will be almost impossible to defend without immediate success. The organization prepared a double change before the Major, then still played Cologne with Brollan. By focusing on its next roster before the biggest tournament of the season, MOUZ effectively sacrificed its chance to approach the Major at full strength. That creates a serious obligation to win. MOUZ kept several stars and added PR, but a few playoff appearances will not justify throwing away a real Major attempt. This new roster must prove that the sacrifice had a purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aurora also abandoned an established identity. MAJ3R stepped away from the leadership role, while soulfly and coach Fabre also left the project. Jimpphat, kyxsan and ash arrived to transform the Turkish core into an international lineup. The talent is obvious, but doing better than the previous roster will be extremely difficult. Aurora is betting on the long term, which should give the new project some time, but it will still be judged against a team that had already established itself among the world\u2019s best.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MongolZ and PARIVISION rejected stability<\/b><\/h3>\n

The MongolZ first lost Senzu, then moved on from cobrazera and, more importantly, let mzinho go. That is a major gamble. He was part of the core that reached the top of the world, yet the organization chose another youth-focused rebuild instead of protecting what it had already created. The strategy fits the identity of The MongolZ, but the new roster will constantly be compared to a team that had already reached number one. Development will not be enough. They must show that giving up stability was worth it.<\/span><\/p>\n

PARIVISION\u2019s changes are just as bold. The team was inconsistent during the first half of the season, but it was never ridiculous. Even during its weaker periods, it remained structured, competitive and capable of challenging almost anyone. Adding HObbit and slaxejezzz was therefore not an attempt to repair a broken team. It was a major gamble designed to push an already dangerous project to another level. PARIVISION must now prove that it has improved without losing what made it competitive in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n

HEROIC made smart moves, Luminosity may have killed its roster<\/b><\/h3>\n

HEROIC\u2019s changes are genuinely interesting. The organization appointed doto as its new coach and added Martinez and Brollan. The roster has already shown encouraging signs. After a year in hell, this finally looks like a lineup with enough balance and talent to produce lasting progress.<\/span><\/p>\n

Luminosity\u2019s decision is much harder to understand. The organization took over a Monte core that had just reached the third stage of the Major, but did so without IGL Gizmy and handed the leadership to lux. Changing the system that had finally produced results makes almost no sense. Rather than improving the roster, the move could kill it before it even has the chance to build on its success.<\/span><\/p>\n

No More Second Chances<\/b><\/h2>\n

FaZe and 3DMAX must repair a wasted season<\/b><\/h3>\n

FaZe and 3DMAX suffered the same failure at different levels. Both spent the end of the season chasing the points required to reach Cologne, only to miss their main objective. For FaZe, missing a Major was humiliating. The organization has now replaced broky with JBOEN, a major gamble made because it no longer had many options. At this point, simply returning to the playoffs of major events would already represent progress. This will also be a real test for Twistzz as an IGL, one that could define his future in the role.<\/span><\/p>\n

For 3DMAX, missing Cologne was a lost opportunity to establish the French project as a stable top-15 team. The organization responded with another change, replacing Ex3rcice with Kursy, who joins as a rifler while Maka remains on the AWP. The move brings fresh firepower, but also breaks a core that had grown together for years, going all the way back to the HEET days. 3DMAX must now escape its spiral of defeats, stabilize again and reach the next Major.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liquid, NIP and 100 Thieves must become real projects<\/b><\/h3>\n

Liquid reached Cologne, but another early elimination only confirmed that the project remains directionless. ultimate was replaced by Jorko, while siuhy was benched to make way for another leadership change around JT. Liquid no longer needs a few good results. It needs to prove that there is a coherent plan behind its constant moves. Otherwise, the problem is no longer the roster. It is Liquid itself.<\/span><\/p>\n

NIP missed another Major despite another rebuild. It is time for one of Counter-Strike\u2019s biggest names to return to the main stage. 100 Thieves launched an ambitious project around rain and device, but has already changed its leader after only a few months. For both organizations, reaching the next Major would not be an achievement. It would simply be the first proof that their projects actually make sense.<\/span><\/p>\n

Virtus.pro may not currently have a roster that should be expected to qualify, but the organization\u2019s name will not protect its status forever. A top organization can disappear very quickly. fnatic has already shown that, and it will also have plenty to lose during the coming months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Playing With House Money<\/b><\/h2>\n

Falcons has already completed its mission<\/b><\/p>\n

Falcons was built to win a Major, finally give NiKo the trophy and turn an expensive collection of stars into a real team. In Cologne, it achieved all three. The organization finally turned years of virtually unlimited investment into a Major title, not that money or patience were ever likely to run out. NiKo removed the biggest gap from his career, Falcons gave m0NESY the superstar role he deserved, and kyousuke proved that he could deliver on the biggest stage. Even if the title proves to be a one-off, 2026 can no longer be considered a failure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pressure has not disappeared, but it has changed. Falcons will still be expected to compete for every title, and another disappointing run would quickly revive doubts about the project\u2019s consistency. But unlike Vitality, Spirit or FURIA, Falcons already owns the defining image of its season. The main mission is complete. Everything that comes next will decide whether Cologne was one perfect moment or the start of something much bigger.<\/span><\/p>\n

The BC.Game circus has already won<\/b><\/h3>\n

BC.Game assembled a circus around s1mple, electroNic, Magisk, Senzu and mzinho. Nobody knows whether the roster makes sporting sense, but that may not matter. The goal was to make noise, and it has already worked. If the team wins, BC.Game looks brilliant. If it loses, everyone will still watch the disaster. Either way, it gets exactly what it wanted: attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

The roster is still exciting on paper, but we have already spent enough time waiting for the former NAVI duo to return to the top. We will not make that mistake again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Six Months to Answer<\/b><\/h3>\n

The second half of 2026 will decide much more than who wins the next trophies. It will tell us whether MOUZ was right to sacrifice the present for its future, whether Aurora can improve on a Turkish core that had already reached the top, and whether The MongolZ and PARIVISION took one risk too many. It will reveal whether FaZe, Liquid and 3DMAX can still save their projects, or whether the first six months were only the beginning of a deeper collapse.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the top, the pressure will be even greater. Vitality and Spirit have the two best players in the world and no excuse to watch another Major slip away. NAVI must prove that patience was the right decision. FURIA is running out of time to give FalleN the ending his career deserves. Falcons has already achieved its main goal, but now has the opportunity to turn one perfect tournament into the start of an era.<\/span><\/p>\n

That is what makes the next six months so exciting. Some gambles will create contenders. Others will destroy projects that once looked untouchable. Careers will end, rosters will collapse, and organizations will discover that reputation means very little once the results disappear. Everyone believes they made the right decision.
