G2 have officially parted ways with Álvaro “SunPayus” García, ending his 14-month spell with the organization. The 27-year-old had spent the last three months on the bench after being replaced by Artem “r1nkle” Moroz in June.<\/p>

G2 thanked SunPayus for his leadership, performances and time with the team in an official post on X. His next destination has not been confirmed, although previous reports have linked him with a move to FUT.<\/p>

SunPayus joined as replacement for m0NESY<\/h2>

SunPayus joined G2 in July 2025 after Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov transferred to Falcons.<\/p>

The team showed promising early signs with the new AWPer and won BLAST Open London 2025 only around a month after his arrival.<\/p>

That became the main title of his spell with G2, but the team struggled to produce consistent deep runs afterwards and often fell short around the playoff stage.<\/p>

SunPayus remained one of the more stable individual performers in the lineup, but G2 eventually decided to change the profile of the AWP role.<\/p>

G2 wanted a more aggressive AWPer<\/h2>

SunPayus was moved to the bench in June 2026, with r1nkle brought into the starting five as his replacement.<\/p>

G2 coach Eetu “sAw” Saha later explained that the decision was based on the balance of the roster and the need for a more aggressive presence with the AWP.<\/p>

“I think he can still bring the right things to the right team. I think for us we need something more aggressive because we have also other players who are a bit more on the passive side.”<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>

The move left SunPayus on the sidelines for around three months before G2 officially announced his departure.<\/p>

FUT reportedly interested in SunPayus<\/h2>

G2 did not reveal the next team for SunPayus in the farewell announcement.<\/p>

However, HLTV previously reported that FUT were closing in on the Spanish AWPer as a potential replacement for Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov.<\/p>

The move has not yet been officially confirmed, so SunPayus leaves G2 as a free agent while his next destination remains unresolved.<\/p>

His time with G2 ends after 14 months, one international title and a period that began with the difficult task of replacing m0NESY in the starting lineup.<\/p>
