BC.Game coach TaZ has published a long statement on X about the new regional rules in the VRS. He admits that Major qualification through the Asian ranking was one of the factors behind the team’s latest roster change. However, he insists that BC.Game signed ASAP only because it believes in him as a player.

This story matters because the debate goes beyond one roster. TaZ argues that a new three-month regional restriction, introduced right before qualification, sets a dangerous precedent. Therefore, the discussion now touches every organization that plans its season around the existing rules.

How the Roster Moves Sparked Criticism

BC.Game first signed Senzu and Mzinho. According to TaZ, the goal was never to “become an Asian team.” Instead, the organization saw them as two of the biggest talents in Counter-Strike, both in Asia and around the world.

The coach also pointed out that joining an English-speaking international team is not easy. In his words, even the biggest talents need time to adapt to a new language, a new system and a new environment.

Later, BC.Game signed ASAP from Australia. As a result, the team moved into the Asian VRS. Critics quickly called the organization “rule abusers,” and TaZ responded with his statement.

What TaZ Said About Qualification and the New Rule

TaZ was open about his motives. He said the team’s previous results were not good enough and that BC.Game needed a roster change. In addition, competing for the Major through the Asian ranking gave the team a better opportunity. He also noted that the Major is one of the few tournaments where a strong result can quickly lift a team in the VRS.

However, TaZ set one condition internally, even though it put his own position at risk. BC.Game would not change regions just for the sake of changing regions. The team would sign a player only if it believed he had the level and potential to improve the roster and stay competitive.

BC.Game followed the rules that existed at the time and built an eligible roster. Afterward, it appeared in the Asian VRS. For that reason, TaZ finds it hard to accept a new three-month regional restriction in the middle of the Major qualification cycle. The restriction also applies immediately to the upcoming Major.

The coach said he understands the purpose of the rule. The timing is the problem. Teams and players sign contracts, travel the world and plan their calendars based on the regulations in force at that moment. Changing those regulations shortly before qualification, he argues, creates a dangerous precedent.

Respect for Valve and No Guarantees

Despite his disagreement, TaZ kept a respectful tone toward Valve. He wrote that Counter-Strike has been his life for more than 20 years. He also said he will never speak disrespectfully about Valve’s decisions, even when he disagrees with one.

TaZ also stressed that nothing was guaranteed for BC.Game. The team still had to perform and earn its points. Moreover, it could still have failed to qualify from either Europe or Asia.

What Comes Next for BC.Game

According to the statement from BC.Game coach TaZ on X, the organization will communicate with Valve and respect whatever final decision is made. Meanwhile, the team plans to focus on what it can control. That includes upcoming events and the development of a young roster that still needs time together.

The case is important for two reasons. First, it shows how closely teams now tie roster decisions to VRS regions and Major qualification. Second, it raises a clear question about timing. If rules change shortly before qualification, organizations that planned around the old rules may feel the impact immediately. For BC.Game, the goal stays the same as on day one: earn a way into Tier 1 Counter-Strike and compete for trophies.
