A new 118 MB update for Counter-Strike 2 is out, and it brings more than routine fixes. Players now get a new silent reload option and a fresh mutator called Big Head Mode in Casual. The files also include a weapon that CS2 has not had before, called Lar.<\/p>\n

So why does this update stand out? The silent reload change affects how players handle one of the game\u2019s quieter tricks. Meanwhile, Big Head Mode introduces a whole new term to CS2, and the Lar files show that new gear may be on the way.<\/p>\n\n

What Came Before This Patch<\/h2>\n

Silent reload is a feature that lets players reload without the usual loud sound. Until now, it only worked in one way. Players had to keep the button held down to stay in silent mode.<\/p>\n

In addition, the game had a sound problem. In some cases, the first sound of a reload could still be heard, even if the player had asked for a silent reload. Other issues also remained, such as visual glitches on certain video cards and bugs in demo playback.<\/p>\n

Everything the Update Changes<\/h2>\n

The gameplay section brings two changes. First, the update adds an option to switch Silent Reload Mode between Hold and Toggle. With Toggle enabled, players can let go of the reload button once the silent reload starts. To cancel it and go back to a fast reload, they can tap the reload button again. Second, the update fixes various cases where the first sound of a reload was audible, no matter whether the player had asked for a silent reload.<\/p>\n

The miscellaneous section covers two more fixes. A bug that made liquid render as black on AMD video cards is gone. Developers also fixed some sound and UI bugs that appeared when rewinding during demo playback.<\/p>\n

However, the most eye-catching change is a new CS2 term: mutators. The active mutator is Big Head Mode, and it is live in the Casual mode. Here, the more kills a player has, the bigger the head grows. Deaths work the other way, because the more deaths a player has, the smaller the head gets. Therefore, every kill and every death changes how big a player\u2019s head looks in a Casual match.<\/p>\n

Finally, the update adds files for a new weapon called Lar. The icon of the weapon has also appeared. The files are in the game, but the update notes give no further details about the weapon.<\/p>\n

Closing Thoughts on the Update<\/h2>\n

According to the official CS2 patch notes, this 118 MB update focuses on two areas. It improves silent reload with a Hold and Toggle choice, and it fixes the reload sound issue. In addition, it solves the black liquid bug on AMD cards and the demo rewind problems.<\/p>\n

The update also shows that CS2 is trying new ideas. Big Head Mode in Casual is the first visible use of the mutator term. Meanwhile, the Lar files point to a possible new weapon.
