Valve has rolled out a new update for Counter-Strike 2, bringing a host of gameplay tweaks, UI enhancements, and map modifications. While the update introduced several expected improvements, an unexpected bug allowing players to float has stolen the spotlight, leading to both amusement and frustration within the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main goal of the August 9 update is to improve the gameplay experience. The most significant upgrade is the addition of a voting system to decide which game modes\u2019 levels should be changed. In casual game modes like Deathmatch and Arms Race, players can now cast their votes for a level change at the conclusion of a match or in the first round of a new match. Players now have more choice over the maps they play on, which could enhance their enjoyment of the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

The update also brings a series of quality-of-life improvements. For instance, players in Casual game mode will now earn additional XP for every round in which they deal damage to enemies. A new server setting, \u201csv_vote_to_changelevel_rndmi<\/em>n\u201d has been introduced to regulate when voting for level changes is permitted, ensuring that these votes occur at the appropriate times.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, upward movement has been restricted when a player is boosted on a teammate\u2019s head, addressing concerns over potentially unfair advantages. Other notable changes include the automatic closure of the buy menu if the team switch menu is opened, the prevention of dead players from picking up weapons, and the inclusion of hostage rescues in match statistics.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the UI front, legibility has been improved for the damage given and taken in the post-round damage report, and the highlighting of spectator targets has been made more pronounced. Additionally, player names are now visible on the mini scoreboard whenever it is expanded, offering clearer visibility during matches.<\/span><\/p>\n

The update also brings the latest versions of the Mills and Assembly community maps from the Community Workshop, ensuring that players have access to the most current content created by the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the intended improvements, the update inadvertently introduced a bizarre bug that allows players to float when jumping on top of another player. While floating, players remain accurate in their aim, leading to some highly one-sided matches and a flurry of jokes and memes within the community.<\/span><\/p>\n
