PRIVATE finished fourth at 1win Private Club Season 2 after a run that included victories over Alliance and fnatic. Speaking to HLTV after elimination, Aliaksandr “1eeR” Nahorny revealed that the team currently have no coach, leaving him responsible for both in-game leadership and much of the work outside the server.
The former Nemiga captain said PRIVATE have spent as much as 14–16 hours a day working on their game despite the roster only coming together around a month and a half ago.
1eeR is doing the coaching work himself
PRIVATE were formed from a core that previously competed under RUBY, with 1eeR joining after initially playing with the group as a mix.
With no coach currently attached to the roster, he has taken responsibility for implementing his vision of how the team should play.
We don’t have a coach right now, so I do all the work. We worked literally like 14 to 16 hours, without exaggeration.
According to 1eeR, much of that time has gone into creating common reactions to situations on the map, establishing how the team approaches clutches and making sure every player understands the same overall system.
He credited his teammates for listening and committing to the workload required to make progress in a short period.
PRIVATE see progress after only six weeks
Despite finishing fourth, 1eeR said the result was satisfactory considering how recently the lineup was assembled.
PRIVATE defeated Alliance and fnatic during the event before eventually losing to The MongolZ in the lower bracket final.
From being some kind of mix, I can say with confidence that we’ve grown into a relatively decent team.
The 27-year-old believes those results showed that PRIVATE can already compete with established tier-two opposition, although he acknowledged that there are still many mistakes to fix.
The loss to The MongolZ was particularly useful in showing the difference in level.
This game was very telling because we were told where our place is, so to speak.
1eeR explained that stronger opponents punish small mechanical and decision-making errors much more consistently, giving PRIVATE a clearer picture of what still needs improvement.
PRIVATE will eventually need a coach
The current setup is not something 1eeR believes can continue indefinitely.
PRIVATE have considered several coaching candidates, but no concrete agreement has been reached. 1eeR also said finding a suitable coach is difficult because of the limited options currently available.
For now, he believes he can continue handling the additional workload for another month or two.
After that, the amount of work involved in calling, reviewing practices and tracking individual mistakes could become too demanding for one person.
The long-term goal is therefore to add another person who understands the game and can help both the players and 1eeR develop.
