An unusual concept for CS2 has gone viral on Reddit: a user showed skins with visible liquid inside and glass with refraction. In other words, this is not a painted effect, but a visually more complex material that literally lets you look through part of the weapon model.
The author immediately clarified that this is more of an experiment than a real submission meant to get into the game. But the idea has already caught the community’s attention.
The liquid and glass effect
The main feature of the concept is that the author used custom materials and tried to create something that, according to him, has not yet been shown in CS2 — a real liquid and glass effect inside the model. This looks unusual for Counter-Strike, where even bright skins usually remain just texture-based cosmetics. Here, the focus is no longer only on the design, but on the behavior of the material itself.

The author just wanted to test whether it was possible
According to the author, people had long wanted to see something like this, so he decided to test whether it was technically possible to build it. In the end, he created several different concepts, although he only published some of them. He also showed a Zeus skin that changes color depending on its charge: after a shot it turns red, and when the weapon is ready again it turns green. So this is no longer just cosmetics, but also a visual indicator.

Valve is unlikely to add this to the game
The author himself is not building up big expectations. He directly wrote that these works do not use the standard materials available to regular skin creators, so the chances of getting into the game are almost zero. Moreover, in the comments he admitted that he partly agrees with those who think the idea is too radical for CS. According to him, it was made mostly for fun — simply to show that something like this is possible in principle.
In the comments — admiration and jokes about FPS
The community reaction turned out to be mixed. Some users called the idea brilliant, while others immediately started joking that a skin like this would “kill FPS” or looks too futuristic for Counter-Strike. That is why this concept is perceived not as a hint at a future update, but as a very strong proof of concept. One enthusiast simply showed that the limits for fan-made ideas in CS2 are much wider than many people thought.

An interesting skin experiment
A Reddit user showed one of the most interesting fan-made concepts for CS2 in recent times: skins with liquid inside the model, a refraction effect, and a Zeus that changes color depending on its charge. Valve is unlikely to ever add something like this to the game in its current form. But as an experiment, and as a demonstration that even in the Workshop it is possible to come up with something genuinely fresh, this idea worked perfectly.
