BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 1 – Preview

BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 1 arrives as one of the last major tests before the Major race fully takes over the calendar. With only eight teams, no easy matches, and direct semifinal spots for group winners, every series carries weight. Team Vitality enter as the clear favorites, but Natus Vincere, FURIA, and even a rebuilding G2 Esports have enough firepower to challenge for the trophy.

For some teams, this event is about confirming championship form. For others like FaZe Clan and Astralis, it is a chance to reset the narrative before the most important stretch of the season begins.

Format

The tournament begins with a two-day GSL group stage on April 29–30, where two groups of four teams will battle in best-of-three matches. The top three teams from each group advance to playoffs, but the difference between finishing first and third is massive.

Group winners move directly into the semifinals, while second-place teams enter the quarterfinals as high seeds and third-place teams qualify as low seeds. The playoffs, running from May 1–3, use a single-elimination bracket, with the Grand Final played as a best-of-five.

Vitality remain the team to beat

Team Vitality continue to look like the strongest team in the world and once again arrive as the main title favorite. Their structure is stable, the stars continue to deliver, and they remain the benchmark every other team is trying to reach.

Anything less than a final appearance would feel like an underperformance. With their group draw, a direct semifinal spot should be the minimum expectation.

NAVI and FURIA are the biggest challengers

Natus Vincere and FURIA come into the tournament as the most realistic threats to Vitality.

FURIA may have recently lost to Falcons, but their overall level remains strong and they continue to look dangerous against every top team. NAVI, meanwhile, survived difficult matches against elite opponents and look like one of the most complete teams in the event.

Both teams should be targeting the final—not just playoffs.

G2 and Astralis look for a statement event

G2 Esports are slowly finding rhythm again. With huNter- returning to a more natural leadership role and the structure becoming cleaner, this event feels like the right moment for them to prove the rebuild is working.

Astralis also have a strong opportunity ahead. The team has not played official matches for nearly two weeks, but that extra preparation could help significantly. In a group with FUT and G2, their playoff chances should be strong.

FUT and GamerLegion need to survive difficult groups

FUT Esports will play with coach coolio standing in for lauNX, which immediately makes their path harder. Playing with a substitute at this level is never ideal, especially against teams like Vitality and G2.

GamerLegion continue their rebuild around Snax and the new coaching staff. This is another major test for them and a chance to show that the progress made over the last few months is real.

FaZe remain the biggest question mark

FaZe Clan enter the tournament after the disappointment of missing the Major, and the team still feels unstable. New coaching changes, leadership adjustments, and role shifts could create improvement—but the roster still depends heavily on players like broky and jcobbb finding consistent form. There is enough talent for a deep run, but right now FaZe are the hardest team to trust. Also new stand-in Neityu add to FaZe some unpredictable things.

Why It Matters

BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 1 is not just another trophy—it is one of the clearest previews of the Major race ahead. Teams that win here build confidence and momentum. Teams that fail leave with bigger questions than answers.

Vitality are expected to dominate, but NAVI, FURIA, and G2 all have reasons to believe. For FaZe, Astralis, and GamerLegion, this tournament could define how the rest of their season is viewed.
