FUT coach András “coolio” Fercsák praised Álvaro “SunPayus” García in an interview with HLTV after his successful debut at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, saying the experienced AWPer gives the team more control in mid-round situations.
SunPayus finished the 2:0 victory over TYLOO with 34–18 K–D and a 1.47 Rating 3.0, immediately leading the scoreboard in his first official series for FUT.
SunPayus brings experience and control
coolio said the roster had already spent significant time practicing with SunPayus before his signing became official.
FUT held tryouts and a bootcamp during their break after BLAST Porto, giving the team more than a month to integrate the new AWPer.
According to coolio, the biggest addition is not only the AWPing but also the experience SunPayus brings during rounds.
He has really good experience and he is able to control the mid round, and we were really lacking a guy like that.
The coach explained that SunPayus is not acting as another caller, but understands when the team needs utility, when to increase the pace and how to help stabilize situations around Krabeni.
When we put him in some angle, we know he will get the kills.
coolio was surprised by G2 decision
SunPayus joined FUT after spending several months on the bench at G2, where r1nkle replaced him during the summer.
coolio admitted that the decision surprised him.
I was also shocked that they benched him in G2 because I feel like he’s still such a good player.
The coach also compared the current setup to the final months with cmtry.
According to coolio, cmtry had begun losing confidence and was missing some of the shots FUT expected him to convert, which contributed to problems on the CT side.
SunPayus has already provided a different dynamic by creating early advantages with the AWP and helping the team remain more controlled.
FUT target top eight
coolio believes the addition can also help reduce one of the main problems FUT previously experienced: over-fighting and over-peeking during chaotic moments.
Because of the experience he has, we will be more controlled.
The coach does not want FUT to abandon their existing style, but believes SunPayus can help balance it with better decision-making.
He stopped short of setting major expectations for the first tournament with the new lineup, but outlined where he believes the ceiling could be.
I would say we can be, for sure, a top-eight team. That’s what I expect.
FUT started the new chapter with a 2:0 victory over TYLOO and will use PGL Masters Bucharest as the first test of how their practice form translates into official matches.
