FACEIT doubles CS2 half-time voice chat after community backlash

FACEIT has responded to community feedback by extending its new half-time voice chat feature in Counter-Strike 2. Players criticized the initial eight-second timer less than a day after the feature launched. In response, FACEIT doubled the voice chat window to 16 seconds as part of its ongoing test.

Players complained that eight seconds were not enough

The discussion started after content creator dima_wallhacks criticized the feature. He argued that players barely had enough time to speak before the half-time break ended.

The new FACEIT half-time voice chat feature is obviously a cool idea, but as it is right now, it’s TOO short. You can barely get a word in and then the half time ends.

The post quickly gained traction. It collected hundreds of likes and thousands of views. The discussion soon shifted toward possible improvements, with many players asking FACEIT to extend the timer or make the feature optional.

Many users agreed that eight seconds felt too restrictive. Some suggested a two-minute warm-up between halves so teams could discuss pistol-round strategies. Others said that 10–15 seconds would be enough to create meaningful interactions.

Several community members also asked FACEIT to make the feature optional. Others wanted voice chat during warm-up or after matches. At the same time, many users joked that the original timer only left enough time to insult opponents before the next half began. Despite the criticism, some players said they enjoyed the feature because it made matches more entertaining.

FACEIT responds within a day

FACEIT reacted less than a day after the first complaints appeared. The company announced that it had increased the half-time voice chat window from 8 to 16 seconds.

The developer also confirmed that the test will continue until August 12. During that period, FACEIT will monitor community feedback and evaluate whether the feature needs further changes.

Many players praised the quick response. However, others continued to request additional improvements. The most common suggestions included voice chat during warm-up, post-match conversations, and an option to disable the feature completely.

Testing continues

Doubling the timer addressed one of the community’s biggest complaints. Even so, players remain divided on the long-term implementation. FACEIT says it will use feedback from the test period to refine the feature before its full rollout.
