FaZe Clan have officially launched an academy initiative in Counter-Strike 2. The new project will be led by former professional player Nicklas “gade” Gade, who will take on the role of head coach for the youth roster. For FaZe, this is the first full-fledged academy initiative in Counter-Strike and could become an important step in the club’s long-term roster strategy.
A New Direction for FaZe
Academy rosters have long become a standard for many top organizations. Such projects allow teams to:
- develop young players;
- build an internal talent pipeline;
- prepare prospects for the Tier-1 scene.
Until now, FaZe primarily relied on transferring already established players. However, the launch of an academy signals a shift in approach — the organization wants to invest in long-term talent development.

Why gade
Nicklas “gade” Gade has extensive experience on the professional Counter-Strike scene. The Danish player has played more than 950 official maps at a high level and represented several well-known teams.
The most notable stages of his career were with:
- North
- OpTic Gaming
- BIG
His overall career rating is approximately 0.99, with his best performances coming between 2017 and 2020.
After finishing his professional playing career, gade has gradually moved into a coaching role — and the FaZe academy roster will become his biggest project in this new capacity.
Academies — The New Standard of the CS Scene
In recent years, academy programs have become an important part of the Counter-Strike ecosystem. Many players who later became Tier-1 stars passed through academy systems.
Academies allow organizations to:
- test new players without risking the main roster;
- develop young talents in a structured environment;
- quickly find replacements when changes occur in the main lineup.
Therefore, launching such a project for FaZe appears to be a logical step in competing with clubs that already have similar development systems.
What Comes Next
So far, the organization has not announced the academy roster. It is expected that FaZe will soon reveal the young players who will become part of the new project.
If the academy proves successful, it could become a key source of future players for the main FaZe lineup.
