FaZe have reached the Esports World Cup 2026 playoffs after defeating Legacy 2-0 in the Group B upper bracket semi-final. The team claimed a 13-6 win on Cache before closing the series with a 13-8 result on Mirage.
The match offered Legacy a direct route to the playoffs. However, FaZe delivered a more consistent performance and ended the series without playing the deciding map, Nuke.
Cache Pick Pays Off for FaZe
FaZe removed Inferno in the veto, while Legacy banned Anubis. FaZe then selected Cache, and Legacy chose Mirage. Dust2 and Ancient were removed afterwards, leaving Nuke as the potential third map.
FaZe made their Cache pick count immediately. They built a 9-3 lead in the first half and allowed Legacy only three more rounds after the switch. As a result, FaZe secured a convincing 13-6 victory and took control of the series.
Legacy needed a win on their own map pick to stay alive in the upper bracket. The Brazilian team kept Mirage competitive in the opening half, but FaZe held a 7-5 advantage at the break. FaZe then won the second half 6-3 to seal a 13-8 result and complete the 2-0 sweep.
Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken was the standout player across the two-map series. He finished with 36 kills and 18 deaths, a 96.9 ADR, an 85.0% KAST rating and a 1.74 Rating.
Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski recorded a 1.35 rating, while David “frozen” Čerňanský ended the series with a 1.34 rating. Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer was Legacy’s highest-rated player over the full two-map series with a 1.01 Rating.
Legacy Get One More Chance
FaZe advanced to the Esports World Cup 2026 playoffs through the upper bracket. The victory also gives the team 45 VRS points, moving FaZe from 10th to seventh place with 1,796 points.
Legacy drop to the lower bracket after losing 17 VRS points. The Brazilian team falls from eighth to ninth place and will now face the winner of K27 vs MIBR for the remaining Group B playoff slot.
That series will be Legacy’s last chance to reach the playoffs. FaZe, meanwhile, have completed their immediate objective and can now prepare for the next stage of the Esports World Cup.
