Thunderpick World Championship 2026 turned out to be a tournament with a noticeable advantage for the defensive side, but one team managed to go against the overall trend. FURIA became the only team at the championship to win more than half of their T-side rounds and finished their run in Malta by lifting the main trophy.
FURIA broke the tournament’s main trend
On most maps at Thunderpick WC, the CT side provided teams with the greatest stability. Defense allowed teams to control the tempo, build round-winning streaks, and create situations where attackers constantly had to find ways to break through well-prepared positions.
FURIA became the exception to this trend. The Brazilians were the only team at the tournament to finish the championship with a T-side round win rate above 50%. Ultimately, their ability to consistently win difficult attacking rounds became one of the defining features of their championship run.
The road to the trophy
In the playoffs, FURIA first faced Aurora in the semi-finals. The Brazilian team closed out the series 2:0 and secured a place in the Grand Final, where BetBoom were already waiting after defeating Falcons.
The final proved to be a much tougher challenge. The Bo5 series went all five maps, but FURIA eventually overcame BetBoom 3:2 and became the champions of Thunderpick World Championship 2026.
Attack became an important weapon for FURIA
At a tournament where successful CT-side play was one of the most noticeable overall trends, a strong attack gave FURIA an additional advantage. The team could not only capitalize on comfortable defensive halves but also consistently secure enough rounds on the more difficult side.
This kind of balance is especially important in long series. When an opponent cannot count on a guaranteed advantage after switching to the CT side, every half becomes much less predictable, leaving less room for mistakes.
KSCERATO became MVP
KSCERATO was one of the main heroes of the championship run. The Brazilian finished Thunderpick WC 2026 with a Rating 3.0 of 1.34 and received the tournament’s MVP award.
His statistics complement the overall picture of FURIA’s performance. The team not only found an effective approach to the T side but also received consistent individual contributions from one of its key players in the decisive matches.
FURIA received more than just the trophy
The victory earned FURIA $250,000 from the total $1 million prize pool. BetBoom received $125,000 for second place, Aurora finished the tournament in third, and Falcons took fourth.
The result also had a positive impact on the Brazilians’ VRS standing. Following the tournament, FURIA gained 97 points, bringing their total to 1881 and moving up to fourth place in the ranking.
A championship built on a strong T side
Ultimately, FURIA managed to accomplish something no other participant at Thunderpick WC 2026 could repeat: winning more than half of their attacking rounds. Against the backdrop of the overall strength of the CT side, this statistic became particularly telling.
The Brazilians finished the tournament by defeating BetBoom in a five-map final, took home $250,000, secured an MVP award for KSCERATO, and climbed in VRS. The championship’s main statistical contrast turned out to be highly symbolic — the only team that broke the dominance of the defensive side ultimately lifted the trophy.
