Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss has called time on his playing career, closing the book on a decade-long journey through French and international Counter-Strike without ever setting foot on a Major stage.
The 30-year-old French-Moroccan rifler shared the news himself, thanking every organization that gave him a shot and confirming he still wants to stay involved in the scene, just not as a player anymore. It is the kind of announcement that resonates across the Counter-Strike community, because hAdji’s story is a familiar one: years of grinding through smaller rosters, brief flashes with bigger names, and ultimately no Major appearance to show for it, despite genuine talent and longevity.
A Long Road Through French CS
hAdji began his professional path back in 2016 with Platinium eSport, and from there he moved through a long list of rosters that reads like a map of the French CS scene. He passed through WE GOT GAME, Vexed Gaming, EnVyUs Academy, and Team EnVyUs, before spending time with The Imperial and 3DMAX in 2018 and 2019.
His most stable stretch came with Team LDLC, where he stayed from January 2020 to January 2022, a two-year run that remains the longest single stint of his career. After that, he joined Team Falcons, competing there through early 2023, before returning to 3DMAX later that year for the switch to Counter-Strike 2.
Chasing a Major That Never Came
In March 2024, hAdji stepped down from 3DMAX after the team failed to qualify for the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024, a setback he described as a turning point that pushed him to look for international opportunities. That Major qualifier miss turned out to be one of several close calls throughout his career. He later filled in as a stand-in for Monte in mid-2024, joined DRILLAS for a few months, and then settled with Monte again from April 2025.
Most recently, hAdji competed for illwill, an organization-less European CS2 team formed in October 2025, where he played as a starting rifler through 2026. Across his whole career, spanning roughly ten years and around 24 different teams, he built a reputation as a reliable rifler with solid fundamentals, but a Major spot always stayed just out of reach.

After years of dedication and chasing dreams, I’ve decided to retire as a player. I’m forever grateful to all the organizations and teams that gave me a chance. From French teams to international ones, every single one taught me something about the game and about myself, and I believe each experience helped me grow as a person. That being said, my love for the game and competition hasn’t diminished, and I’m ready to bring my experience, work ethic, and passion to any staff or team willing to give me the opportunity. My DMs are open for any questions or opportunities.
His words make clear that this is not a full exit from Counter-Strike. He framed the decision as the end of one chapter as a player, while signaling openness to a staff, coaching, or management role going forward.

hAdji’s retirement highlights how difficult it is to break into the very top tier of Counter-Strike, even for players with a decade of consistent effort behind them. He represented well-known organizations like Team Envy, 3DMAX, Team LDLC, and Team Falcons, yet a Major appearance never materialized, which says a lot about how competitive the path to that stage has become.
His move toward a staff or coaching role could still keep him close to the game he spent ten years playing.
