IEM Cologne Major 2026 has been recognized as the most commercially valuable esports tournament of the first half of 2026. According to a new Esports Charts report, the Counter-Strike 2 Major generated an estimated $44.89 million in Media Value, outperforming every other esports event, including the biggest League of Legends competitions. Four CS2 tournaments also secured places in the top 10, underlining Counter-Strike’s commercial strength alongside its record-breaking viewership.
IEM Cologne Major tops the global Media Value ranking

Esports Charts’ Media Value metric estimates the value of on-screen sponsorship exposure during a tournament. The calculation considers factors such as broadcast viewership, sponsor visibility, regional advertising rates, and airtime. The figure is intended as a benchmark for comparing sponsorship potential between events rather than actual tournament revenue.
In the H1 2026 ranking, IEM Cologne Major 2026 claimed first place with an estimated $44.89 million, comfortably ahead of the LCK 2026 Season ($35.14 million) and LCK Cup 2026 ($25.79 million).
For Counter-Strike, the results were particularly impressive, with four events making the top 10:
- #1 — IEM Cologne Major 2026: $44.89M
- #5 — IEM Krakow 2026: $16.99M
- #9 — BLAST Open Spring 2026: $11.77M
- #10 — ESL Pro League Season 23: $10.86M
These four tournaments generated nearly $84.5 million in estimated Media Value, placing Counter-Strike just behind League of Legends in total commercial value despite featuring fewer long-running seasonal competitions.
Counter-Strike remains one of esports’ strongest commercial ecosystems
The report notes that Counter-Strike and League of Legends dominated the ranking, occupying eight of the ten available spots. This demonstrates that established PC esports ecosystems continue to provide the highest value for sponsors thanks to consistent global audiences, premium tournament formats, and extensive broadcast exposure.
Interestingly, several mobile esports events that attracted larger peak audiences failed to reach the Media Value top 10. According to Esports Charts, sponsorship value depends on far more than raw viewership, with regional advertising markets, broadcast duration, and sponsor visibility playing a major role in determining commercial impact.
For Counter-Strike, the results reinforce what has already been evident throughout 2026. Following record-breaking viewership numbers at the IEM Cologne Major and strong performances from events such as IEM Krakow, BLAST Open Spring, and ESL Pro League Season 23, CS2 continues to rank among the most attractive esports titles for tournament organizers and commercial partners alike.
