Legacy have secured their place in the Esports World Cup 2026 playoffs after defeating MIBR 2-0 in the Group B lower-bracket semifinal. The Brazilian squad took Nuke 13-11 before closing Inferno 13-8 to complete the sweep. Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira led the team with a 1.38 rating, while Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer finished at 1.34. The victory sends Legacy into the playoffs and eliminates MIBR from the tournament.

Legacy complete their lower-bracket comeback

Legacy entered the Esports World Cup with a difficult opening matchup against Ninjas in Pyjamas. They produced a dominant performance on Cache and secured a 13-5 victory to move into the upper bracket. However, the Brazilians were unable to maintain that momentum in their next match. Legacy suffered a 0-2 defeat to FaZe, dropping into the lower bracket and setting up a decisive series against MIBR.

MIBR had opened their campaign with a 6-13 loss to Astralis on Inferno. They responded strongly in the lower bracket, securing a 2-0 victory over K27 to keep their tournament run alive and earn a chance to face Legacy for a playoff spot. With no second chance available, Legacy produced a convincing 2-0 victory over MIBR to secure their place in the knockout stage.

The series started on Nuke, MIBR’s map pick. Legacy produced an excellent opening half and built a commanding 9-3 advantage. MIBR responded after the side switch and began to cut into the deficit. They won eight rounds in the second half and pushed Legacy all the way to the final stages of regulation. Still, Legacy held on to secure a narrow 13-11 victory.

Inferno was Legacy’s pick, and the team once again started strongly. They established another 9-3 halftime advantage and put themselves within four rounds of the playoffs. MIBR showed some resistance after the break, but this time a comeback never truly developed. Legacy found the remaining rounds they needed and closed Inferno 13-8 to complete the 2-0 sweep.

Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira was Legacy’s best performer across the two maps. He finished the series with 33 kills and 25 deaths, recording 78.0 ADR and an 82.2% KAST. His overall rating reached 1.38. Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer was another major contributor. He recorded a team-high 37 kills, 85.1 ADR and a 1.34 rating.

Santino “try” Rigal followed with a 1.25 rating, while Bruno “latto” Rebelatto finished at 1.18. That meant four Legacy players ended the series comfortably above 1.00. Lucas “nqz” Soares was MIBR’s highest-rated player at 1.04. The remaining four players all finished below a 1.00 rating.

Legacy climb into the VRS top eight

The victory also provides Legacy with an important boost in the projected Valve Regional Standings. They gained 31 points, increasing their total from 1,757 to 1,788. As a result, Legacy are projected to climb one position from No. 9 to No. 8.

MIBR lost nine points following the defeat. Their total drops from 1,639 to 1,630, while they are projected to fall one position from No. 18 to No. 19. Legacy therefore leave the series with both a playoff ticket and a place inside the projected VRS top eight.

Legacy take the lead in the head-to-head

The victory also adds another chapter to a familiar Brazilian matchup. Legacy now hold a 6-5 series advantage over MIBR, with two additional meetings having gone to overtime. MIBR had won their most recent encounter before EWC, taking Nuke 13-8 at the IEM Cologne Major 2026. The teams also traded victories earlier in the year at CS Asia Championships and PGL Bucharest. This time, Legacy answered with a clean 2-0 victory when the stakes were highest, eliminating their regional rivals and advancing to the playoffs.

Teams react after the match

Legacy immediately celebrated their qualification on social media:

A SUA LEGACY ESTÁ NOS PLAYOFFS DA EWC!

The organization also highlighted the two map scores before celebrating its place in the next stage. MIBR reflected on a disappointing end to their tournament:

CS’s dream at #EWC ends here!

The organization admitted that mistakes proved costly in a difficult match:

A hard-fought match, but we slipped up on a few decisions and couldn’t make it to the playoffs.

MIBR nevertheless remained positive about the roster’s development, adding that the team is “maturing and coming together” and will now focus on fixing its weaknesses.

What’s next?

Legacy advance to the Esports World Cup 2026 playoffs after an impressive recovery from their opening defeat. After losing to NIP, the Brazilian squad responded with consecutive 2-0 victories over FaZe and MIBR to secure their place in the knockout stage. For MIBR, the tournament is over. Their EWC 2026 campaign ends short of the playoffs, with the 0-2 defeat to Legacy bringing their run in Paris to a close.
