lux named Luminosity’s main problem after EWC elimination

Luminosity ended their Esports World Cup 2026 run in last place after losses to GamerLegion and Spirit. The team extended its winless streak to five matches, but captain Lucas “lux” Meneghini does not look like someone who is already pressing the panic button. He named the main problem not as communication, but as different views on the style of play inside the new roster.

Luminosity left EWC without a win

For Luminosity, the tournament turned out to be very difficult. First, the team lost to GamerLegion with a 3:13 score, and then was eliminated after a 0:2 loss to Spirit. On paper, the second match already looked like almost the hardest possible scenario, but for the new roster, what mattered was not only the result, but also how the team reacted to mistakes.

lux admitted that the assessment of the start is still negative. Five losses in five matches is not the beginning Luminosity were hoping for, especially after moving to a new organization. At the same time, the Brazilian IGL is trying to separate the crisis in results from the process of building the team.

The main problem is the playstyle

According to lux, the most difficult part turned out to be the playstyle. He expected there to be more problems with communication, but the situation there was not as difficult. Instead, in the game there are often moments when the captain sees one plan, while his teammates see another. lux:

Sometimes I have a very clear vision of what needs to be done, and they have a different one. That does not mean someone is right and someone is wrong. It is more about really getting on the same page. We are players from different countries.

Dust2 left a more positive aftertaste

In the match against Spirit, the captain separately highlighted Dust2. According to him, the first map repeated the problems of the previous game: Luminosity had good chances, but could not convert them. The team gave away important situations, including a 3v1 round, and once again looked slightly out of sync.

At the same time, lux assessed Dust2 much better. He noted that Luminosity did not give away as much to the opponent there, and that the main credit should go to the opponent itself. For the team, this is important psychologically: even after elimination, they got a map that left at least a partially positive impression of their own game.

The team does not want to break after the start

lux emphasized that right now the main thing is to stick together and not fall apart after the first setbacks. Luminosity is a new project that is still only searching for its structure, map pool, and general understanding of the game. That is why the captain believes the team needs matches, repeated situations, and time.

This is a moment when we have to stick together, stay focused on one goal, and keep working. We are a new team, a new organization returning to the scene. So we will work, practice, and play smaller tournaments that will help us climb back up the ranking, regain confidence, and build a solid team structure.

The plan is to return through smaller LAN tournaments

After the unsuccessful start, Luminosity plan to return to the formula that previously helped the core gain ranking points. The team wants to play smaller LAN tournaments in Europe, choose the most useful events, and gradually strengthen its position in the ranking.

For Luminosity, this is not just a way to receive invitations to upcoming tournaments. It is also an opportunity to gain official matches, better understand the map pool, and synchronize different playing approaches faster. Without this, it will be difficult for the new international roster to stabilize.

The first goal is simply to win a match

lux formulated the team’s nearest goal quite directly. “I think the goal is to win a match,” he said with a smile. After that, it will already be about invitations to tournaments and the fight for a place in the Major qualification zone, which, according to the captain, is still fully achievable.

The main conclusion is that Luminosity are not denying the problems right now, but they also do not see the situation as hopeless. The team lost the start of the season, but lux considers the project promising: the players speak openly with each other, the atmosphere inside the roster remains work-focused, and the upcoming tournaments should show whether Luminosity can quickly turn this potential into victories.
