Danil molodoy Golubenko has played only one full season in Tier-1, but that was enough to break into the elite: based on the results of 2025, the Kazakh FURIA AWPer took sixth place in the ranking of the world’s best players according to HLTV. For the 20-year-old newcomer this is his first appearance in the Top 20 and at the same time one of the highest debut results of the modern CS2 era.
An unusual story
The story of molodoy is unusual for a Tier-1 star. In childhood he played shooters mostly “for fun,” and in his teens he even took a break for the sake of studies. He returned to the professional scene already in the CS2 era, through local lineups such as ALLINNERS and DMS, and later the AMKAL project, where his aggressive AWPing style and high rating first attracted the attention of scouts.
The jump to FURIA was a sharp transition straight from lower divisions to the world league. Why molodoy placed 6th
The main reason for such a high placement is a combination of titles, individual awards, and the level of opposition. In less than a year in Tier-1, molodoy managed to win several big tournaments with FURIA, claim two MVPs at Big Events, and receive two additional EVP mentions. At the same time he virtually had no outright failed events: even where the team collapsed in early stages, his personal numbers stayed in the green.
This is reflected clearly in the statistics. The AWPer kept a high overall LAN rating, stood out in kills per round and positive swing rating, and against top-5 opposition he played almost as effectively as versus mid-tier teams. He was also one of the best players of the year in finals and arena matches, where most newcomers tend to struggle.
The only limitations preventing an even higher spot were sample size and competition above him. All players in the top 5 had more EVP/MVP-level events and a larger number of playoff maps.
