Natus Vincere became the champions of IEM Atlanta 2026 after a dominant victory over GamerLegion in the grand final. The Ukrainian organization closed out the series 3-0 and completed one of their strongest tournament runs of the season. For NAVI, the title was especially important after several inconsistent months. The team survived a difficult playoff bracket, defeated Vitality in the semi-final, and then completely outclassed the biggest surprise of the tournament — GamerLegion.
NAVI gave GamerLegion no chance in the grand final
The series started on Mirage — GamerLegion’s map pick. However, it was NAVI who immediately showed the massive difference in class. Aleksib’s team completely controlled the pace of the game, while GamerLegion already looked lost after the opening rounds. Mirage ended in a crushing 13-3 victory for NAVI.
On Anubis, GamerLegion managed to put up more resistance, but NAVI still controlled most of the key moments. Strong retakes and the individual form of b1t and w0nderful became the deciding factors as NAVI secured the map 13-9.
Nuke became the final map of the series and also GamerLegion’s best showing of the final. The European squad repeatedly fought their way back into the game and even kept the score close after the first half, but NAVI once again looked significantly stronger in the decisive rounds. After a dominant T side, the Ukrainian organization closed the map 16-13 and completed the clean sweep.
w0nderful and b1t lead NAVI to the trophy
The best player of the grand final was Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov. The Ukrainian AWPer finished the series with a 1.44 rating, 87.2 ADR, and a 60-34 K-D scoreline. He was deservedly named Player of the Match after an almost flawless performance across all three maps.
Another phenomenal series came from Valeriy “b1t” Vakhovskiy. The Ukrainian rifler ended the final with a 1.40 rating and 94.3 ADR while constantly winning crucial clutches and opening duels. Other strong performers for NAVI included:
- Mihai “iM” Ivan — 1.24 rating
- Drin “makazze” Shaqiri — 1.15 rating
For GamerLegion, REZ was the only consistently dangerous player, finishing the series with a 1.25 rating. However, the rest of the roster struggled heavily throughout the final. In particular, Snax endured a brutal series and finished with a 0.45 rating.
GamerLegion become the biggest surprise of the tournament
Despite the loss in the grand final, GamerLegion had an incredible tournament run. The team reached the final after victories over paiN, Astralis, Liquid, and Legacy, while also pushing NAVI twice during the event.
Their semi-final against Legacy was especially impressive, as GamerLegion completed a comeback and won the series 2-1. The young roster once again proved that they remain one of the most dangerous dark horse teams in the Tier-1 scene.
The victory over Vitality became NAVI’s turning point
NAVI’s road to the trophy was significantly harder. The team opened the tournament with wins over Passion UA and GamerLegion before suffering a surprising loss to Legacy. However, the playoffs revealed NAVI’s true level. In the semi-final, Aleksib’s squad defeated Vitality 2-1 — a result many considered the biggest upset of the tournament. After that victory, NAVI did not lose a single map in the grand final and completed IEM Atlanta 2026 as champions.
Teams react after the grand final
Following the victory, NAVI captain Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen shared an emotional message on social media. The Finnish IGL revealed that his 101-year-old grandmother had passed away on the day he arrived in Atlanta.
The day I arrived to Atlanta, my grandma of 101 years passed away. This trophy is for her.
His post quickly became one of the most discussed moments after the final, with fans and players across the scene sending support to the NAVI captain. GamerLegion also posted a message after the tournament, thanking both the players and fans for their incredible run to the final.
