Season 5 has officially arrived in Counter-Strike 2, bringing one of the biggest gameplay updates in recent months. Valve has introduced a new Active Duty map, completely redesigned bomb explosions, refreshed the Armory with new collections, expanded the map pool, and delivered a range of gameplay improvements.
Cache Joins the Active Duty Pool
One of the biggest highlights of the update is the return of Cache to the Active Duty map pool, replacing Overpass.
Bomb Explosion Mechanics Reworked
Season 5 also introduces a major gameplay change by completely redesigning how bomb explosions work. Instead of applying damage through a simple radius, the explosion now creates a shockwave that spreads throughout the map. Walls and solid objects block the blast, while corners reduce its impact, allowing players to survive in situations that were previously impossible.

Valve has also added a visual health indicator that previews whether you’ll survive the explosion before the bomb detonates, giving players more information during post-plant situations.
