At the late stage of the Swiss Stage, there is practically no room left to correct mistakes. A series at a 1:2 record turns into a full-fledged survival match, where one team gets a final chance to continue the fight, while for the other, the tournament ends immediately after the loss.

Tournament context

ESL Pro League Season 24 takes place with Group Play in a Swiss Bo3 format. In matches between teams with a 1:2 record, the winner moves to the 2:2 group and gets a decisive chance to fight for the next stage, while the losing team ends its run with a final 1:3 record.

G2 and PARIVISION met in this series. PARIVISION started the match better and took Ancient, G2 answered on Anubis, but on the decisive Inferno, Jame’s team seized the initiative again and closed the series.

How the match unfolded — G2 vs PARIVISION

Series score: 2:1 in favor of PARIVISION

  1. Ancient (pick PARIVISION) — 13:7 in favor of PARIVISION
PARIVISION confidently converted their own map pick. The team quickly created an advantage, played the key rounds more consistently, and did not allow G2 to seriously get back into the game in the second half of Ancient.
  2. Anubis (pick G2) — 13:9 in favor of G2
On their own pick, G2 managed to respond and level the score in the series. The European roster played the key stretches of the map better and did not allow PARIVISION to finish the match already on the second map.
  3. Inferno (decider) — 13:11 in favor of PARIVISION
The decisive map became the most tense one in the series. G2 stayed in the fight until the very end, but PARIVISION converted the final rounds better, closed Inferno, and kept their place in the tournament.
