PGL has revealed the opening matches of the group stage at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026. Sixteen teams will fight for a $1,250,000 prize pool, and only one of them will be crowned champion on October 31.
Why is this interesting? The first day brings eight Bo3 matches across two streams, and every result will count in the race for a playoff spot. As a result, each team has to start the event with a strong performance.
What Is at Stake in Bucharest
The tournament begins with a Swiss stage, and all matches in this stage are played as Bo3 series. Therefore, a team has more room to recover after losing a single map. However, the margin for error is still small. Only the top eight teams will move on to the playoffs, while the other eight will leave the event. In addition, the $1,250,000 prize pool gives every participant a clear reason to aim for the title.
Group Stage Day 1 Schedule
The action starts on October 24 in Bucharest, and the matches are split between two streams. Each stream will show four Bo3 series during the day, and a new match will begin every three hours. All times below are given in CEST.
On Stream A, Aurora meet The Mongolz at 9:00. Then Team Spirit face BetBoom Team at 12:00. Later, Team Vitality play 9z Team at 15:00. Finally, G2 take on Natus Vincere at 18:00.
Meanwhile, Stream B opens with FUT Esports against TYLOO at 9:00. After that, MOUZ play Team Liquid at 12:00. Next, Legacy face Nemiga at 15:00. The day ends at 18:00 with FURIA against DENDELE.
Why the Opening Day Matters
Day 1 gives all 16 teams their first chance to record a result in the Swiss stage. For example, a team that wins its first series gets a head start, while a team that loses must recover quickly. Since only eight teams will advance, every series matters from the start.
Moreover, the schedule makes the day easy to follow. Two matches begin at the same time at 9:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00 CEST, so fans can switch between streams and watch all eight series.
What Comes Next
With a $1,250,000 prize pool and a champion to be decided on October 31, the tournament is ready to begin. Therefore, fans should mark October 24 in their calendars and tune in from the first match at 9:00 CEST. The first results in Bucharest will show which teams begin the race for the playoffs in the best shape.
