PGL have confirmed an updated Counter-Strike 2 calendar for 2028, reducing the number of planned events from eight to six. The tournament organizer says the six-event program will be backed by a combined investment of $11 million.

All six dates have now been locked, with the season beginning in January and the final PGL event scheduled for October.

PGL CUT TWO EVENTS FROM PREVIOUS CALENDAR

PGL originally announced eight Tier 1 events for 2028 but have now removed two tournament windows from the schedule.

The previously announced August 16–28 event is no longer included. That window also coincided with the period traditionally used for CS Asia Championships.

The second removed event was originally scheduled for November 1–13.

PGL did not provide a specific explanation for removing the two events in the latest announcement.

The updated schedule is:

  • PGL #1 — January 14–24
  • PGL #2 — February 9–21
  • PGL #3 — March 23–April 3
  • PGL #4 — April 19–May 1
  • PGL #5 — August 31–September 11
  • PGL #6 — October 4–16

The first four events will take place during the opening months of the season, followed by a four-month gap before the final two tournaments.

Locations, team lists and individual prize pools for the six events have not yet been announced.

PGL LOCK IN 2028 DATES EARLY

PGL said publishing the full schedule in advance is intended to give teams, partners and fans clearer planning visibility for the 2028 season.

The calendar will operate alongside events from other Tier 1 organizers. Current schedules already show several periods where PGL tournaments sit close to or overlap events from BLAST, ESL and FISSURE.

The new announcement confirms that PGL still plans a significant presence in the 2028 CS2 calendar despite reducing the original number of tournaments.
