MIBR and NRG will meet in the Lower Bracket Semi-final of StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 on September 19 at 12:00 CET. The series will be played as a Bo3: the winner advances to the Lower Bracket Final later in the day, while the losing team ends its tournament run. MIBR enter as the higher-ranked team at #18 in the HLTV ranking, compared to #50 for NRG, but the recent results and map pool make the matchup much closer than the ranking gap suggests.

STARLADDER STARSERIES FALL 2026 — ELIMINATION MATCH IN THE LOWER BRACKET

StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 uses a Double Elimination format with all matches played as Bo3 until the Bo5 Grand Final. Eight teams are competing in Barcelona for a $500,000 prize pool.

MIBR dropped into the lower bracket after a 1:2 loss to FURIA in their opening match. They stayed alive by defeating magic 2:1, taking Ancient 13:8 and Inferno 13:8 around an 11:13 loss on Mirage.

NRG started the event with one of its biggest surprises, beating MOUZ 2:1. Their upper-bracket run ended against Aurora, who won 2:0 and sent NRG into this elimination series.

The winner of MIBR vs NRG will advance to the Lower Bracket Final at 19:30 CET, while the loser will finish in 5th–6th place.

HEAD-TO-HEAD — NO RECENT SERIES BETWEEN THE CURRENT LINEUPS

The current MIBR and NRG lineups have not played a recent official series against each other, so there is no meaningful direct head-to-head sample to use before this match.

That puts more weight on current form and the map veto. MIBR have significantly more recent LAN experience against high-level international opposition, while NRG arrive with strong online form and have already shown in Barcelona that they can upset a top team.

CURRENT FORM

MIBR — insani leads the team through an inconsistent run

MIBR have won two of their last five series. They defeated Alliance 2:0 at FISSURE Playground 3 and beat magic 2:1 in Barcelona, but lost to BETBOOM, Legacy and FURIA during the same stretch.

Felipe “insani” Yuji remains the main individual threat. Over the last three months, he holds a 1.21 Rating 3.0 with 0.80 kills per round and 89.4 ADR. Against magic, he was clearly the best MIBR player, finishing the series with 63–42 K–D, 102.9 ADR and a 1.45 rating.

Tomas “tomaszin” Corna also had a strong series against magic with a 1.31 rating, giving MIBR a second reliable source of firepower ahead of the NRG matchup.

NRG — strong form despite the Aurora loss

NRG entered StarSeries after a strong qualification period and immediately proved they could compete at this level by eliminating MOUZ from the upper bracket 2:1. Before Barcelona, they had also beaten Liquid, Voca and Without a Roof during their recent run.

The 0:2 defeat to Aurora slowed that momentum, but both maps were more competitive than the series score suggests, especially the 17:19 loss on Mirage.

Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek has been the strongest NRG player statistically over the last three months with a 1.23 Rating 3.0, 0.79 kills per round and 86.4 ADR. Michael “Grim” Wince was the highest-rated NRG player against Aurora with a 1.09 rating.

MAP POOL & VETO

Statistics over the last 3 months (MIBR | NRG):

  1. Cache: 67% | 82%
  2. Dust2: — | 100%
  3. Mirage: 56% | 57%
  4. Inferno: 70% | 43%
  5. Nuke: 55% | 86%
  6. Ancient: 44% | 57%
  7. Anubis: — | —

MIBR have played only two Anubis maps during the presented period, while NRG have no sufficient sample on the map. NRG Cache and Mirage percentages include their losses to Aurora.

Expected veto:

  • MIBR are very likely to remove Dust2. They have consistently used it as their first ban and have no recent map sample there, while NRG have been perfect on Dust2 over the presented period.
  • NRG should remove Anubis. It has been their regular opening ban at StarSeries, including both series against MOUZ and Aurora.

Likely maps:

  • Inferno is the most logical MIBR choice. They have a 70% win rate across ten maps, compared to 43% for NRG, and already beat both FURIA and magic on Inferno at this tournament.
  • Cache remains the obvious NRG option. They picked it against both MOUZ and Aurora and still hold a strong 82% win rate despite the latest loss.
  • Ancient looks like a realistic decider. NRG hold a slight statistical advantage at 57% compared to 44% for MIBR. Nuke would be dangerous for MIBR because NRG have an 86% win rate there, making it a logical second-phase removal.

KEY DUELS

  1. insani vs Sonic — the matchup between the highest-rated players of the two teams over the last three months, with both responsible for a large share of their team firepower.
  2. Lucas “nqz” Soares vs Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli — the AWP duel could be especially important on Cache and Ancient, where early picks can quickly open the map.
  3. tomaszin vs Grim — both have already produced strong individual performances in Barcelona and can become the secondary difference-makers behind the main stars.

PREDICTION

MIBR have the ranking advantage, more recent experience deep into international LAN events and the strongest individual player in this matchup in insani. Inferno also gives them a clear map where they should enter with an advantage, and their victory over magic showed that the team can recover after losing a map.

NRG, however, have the more comfortable overall map pool. Cache is a strong first pick, Dust2 forces an almost automatic MIBR ban, and Nuke or Ancient can give them another favorable option if the veto develops as expected. The victory over MOUZ also showed that NRG can handle stronger opposition when their individual level is there. With both teams likely to secure their own picks, the decider slightly favors NRG.

Projected result: NRG 2–1 MIBR
