Vitality and Spirit will meet in the quarter-finals of the Esports World Cup 2026. The best-of-three series brings together two of the strongest teams in the world, with a place in the semi-finals on the line. Spirit enter as the world’s No. 2 team and are on a three-match winning streak, while Vitality have recovered from their group-stage upset against B8 with two consecutive 2-0 victories. The matchup looks extremely close, but Spirit’s current form and stronger numbers on several maps give them a slight advantage. Vitality, however, have dominated the recent head-to-head and still possess one of the strongest lineups in Counter-Strike.
Vitality have recovered after their B8 defeat

Vitality’s road to the quarter-finals has not been straightforward. They opened the tournament with a dominant 13-4 victory over 100 Thieves, but B8 then produced one of the biggest surprises of the group stage by beating them 2-1. Vitality responded exactly as expected. They swept Lynn Vision 2-0 to secure their playoff place and then eliminated FaZe 2-0 in the Round of 16. Their current lineup of mezii, apEX, ropz, flameZ and ZywOo therefore enters the quarter-final with renewed momentum.
Spirit have followed an even more convincing path recently. After opening their EWC campaign with a 13-10 lose over JiJieHao, they later defeated BIG 2-1 and Luminosity 2-0 to reach the playoffs. Their strong run continued in the Round of 16, where Spirit swept B8 2-0. They now arrive at the Vitality matchup on a three-match winning streak.
Map pool favors Spirit
The recent map statistics give Spirit several clear advantages:
- Dust2: Vitality 33% — Spirit 69%
- Mirage: Vitality 67% — Spirit 73%\
- Inferno: Vitality 80% — Spirit no recent maps
- Nuke: Vitality 75% — Spirit 67%
- Ancient: Vitality no recent maps — Spirit 100%
- Anubis: Vitality 0% — Spirit 83%
Spirit’s biggest advantages come on Dust2 and Anubis. They also have a perfect recent record on Ancient, although that figure comes from only three maps. Vitality’s strongest options are Inferno and Nuke. Inferno could be particularly valuable in the veto, with Vitality winning four of their five recent maps there. Mirage is much closer, with Spirit holding a 73% win rate compared to Vitality’s 67%. If it survives the veto, it could become a natural decider.
ZywOo vs donk could decide the series

The individual battle between ZywOo and donk is the obvious centerpiece of the quarter-final. ZywOo has posted a remarkable 1.40 rating over the past three months. He also averages 0.87 kills per round, 92.3 ADR and a 79.0% KAST.
However, donk’s numbers are even stronger. Spirit’s star has a 1.43 rating, 0.92 kills per round and 93.7 ADR. His 1.43 multi-kill rating also underlines his ability to take over rounds. The difference between the two is minimal. Vitality also have ropz and flameZ behind ZywOo, while Spirit can rely on sh1ro alongside donk. Individual form could therefore become decisive if the series reaches a third map.
Head-to-head heavily favors Vitality
While Spirit have the stronger current ranking, the recent head-to-head record clearly belongs to Vitality. ьтAccording to the provided statistics, Vitality lead Spirit 17-6 in map wins, with another four maps going to overtime. Their latest meeting came at IEM Rio 2026, where Vitality swept Spirit 3-0 in the grand final. They won Dust2 13-5, Nuke 13-10 and Mirage 16-13.
Vitality also defeated Spirit at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 and BLAST Rivals Season 2. Spirit have therefore struggled repeatedly to overcome this particular opponent. That history makes the matchup much more balanced than the current rankings alone suggest.
VRS points put more pressure on Spirit

Spirit currently lead the VRS with 1997 points at No. 1, while Vitality have 1853 points at No. 5. A Vitality victory would be extremely valuable. According to the provided forecast, they could gain around 60 points and climb toward No. 3.
Spirit have much less to gain from a victory. They would lose around two points but remain No. 1. However, a defeat could cost them approximately 18 points, although the forecast still has them retaining the top position. Vitality have more at risk in defeat, with a loss potentially costing around 38 points.
Prediction
This is one of the hardest quarter-finals to call. Spirit enter the match on a three-series winning streak and have strong options on Dust2, Mirage and Anubis. With donk in excellent individual form, they have everything needed to push Vitality to the limit.
However, Vitality have recovered strongly from their defeat to B8 and reached the quarter-finals with consecutive 2-0 victories over Lynn Vision and FaZe. More importantly, they have consistently performed well against Spirit, including a dominant 3-0 victory in the IEM Rio 2026 grand final. With ZywOo in excellent form and Vitality holding a clear head-to-head advantage, the European side have a slight edge in what should be a close three-map series.
Expected score: 2-1 for Vitality
