MOUZ coach Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen spoke in an interview with HLTV about changes inside the team structure, the development of xelex and PR, Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás mental recovery and the pressure created by fan perception after MOUZ stayed alive at StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026.

MOUZ entered the lower bracket after a surprising opening defeat to NRG. Against NAVI, they lost Cache before recovering on Inferno and Mirage to avoid elimination and continue their run in Barcelona.

MOUZ ARE STILL ADAPTING THEIR STRUCTURE

sycrone explained that Adrian “xelex” Vincze and Oldřich “PR” Nový are still learning how to function inside the MOUZ system. The coach highlighted their willingness to ask questions and accept feedback as one of the most important parts of the process.

First and foremost, they’re good at asking questions. They’re curious about the game. They’re also open to feedback. I think that’s the most important thing as a coach: that you have someone who’s open to feedback and has a good attitude towards it.

For xelex, much of the work revolves around building a deeper playbook for positions where opponents can specifically prepare against him. sycrone said the transition from tier-two also requires more attention to timings, variety and communication.

PR role is still being adjusted as well. MOUZ are trying to balance his playmaking with xertioN, while xelex remains the main entry player and Spinx has taken a more active role than before.

TORZSI HAD BURNED OUT AFTER YEARS OF DEEP RUNS

One of the most significant topics was torzsi. sycrone revealed that the AWPer had struggled mentally after spending almost five years as one of the main emotional leaders of MOUZ.

For almost five years, torzsi has been the main heart and fire of the team. Always the guy pushing on stages, propelling the team forward. We were constantly going deep in tournaments, not having that reward. It’s really exhausting. So we had a guy that was burned out, to be honest, especially towards the end of most of last season.

MOUZ have been working with torzsi on the mental side alongside a sports psychologist. The new structure with xertioN calling also reduces some of the responsibility on the AWPer and allows him to focus more on his own game.

sycrone stressed that MOUZ do not want to build the entire system around one star. Instead, the organization prefers spreading resources and responsibility across all five players.

FAN PERCEPTION HAS AFFECTED THE TEAM

The coach also addressed criticism that MOUZ lack personality or “aura” compared to other top teams.

According to sycrone, that perception can affect players who have spent years competing at the highest level only to receive negative reactions from crowds.

Any player wants to be loved. They want to be respected. You put so much time and effort into it. You work for five years, and then you just get booed on stage — it’s not easy, to be honest. At the very end of the day, what they will respect the most is if we play good Counter-Strike.

For MOUZ, the response is supposed to come through results rather than forcing players to become different personalities. sycrone said the team needs to prove it can win on stage, beat teams such as Falcons, Spirit and Vitality, and eventually lift trophies.

He also acknowledged that showmanship has become an internal topic. MOUZ previously considered jL, who naturally brings more personality, while xertioN has become more outspoken since taking over leadership duties.

MOUZ now continue their lower-bracket run at StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 with no room for another defeat.
