Fnatic miraculously qualify for the Major: one chance out of 14 million

Fnatic achieved the almost impossible — the team qualified for the Major despite minimal chances. According to analyst Finn, several highly unlikely factors had to align — from upsets at ESL Pro League to opponents’ visa issues. A chain of events over the past ten days ended with the legendary European organization finally returning to the main CS2 stage.

FNATIC QUALIFY FOR THE MAJOR AFTER A UNIQUE CHAIN OF EVENTS

Fnatic officially qualified for the upcoming Major despite an extremely difficult path and a remarkable set of coincidences. Analyst Finn summarized the situation sarcastically in his post on X:

I sped up time… I looked through all 14,000,625 possible futures to see every scenario where Fnatic make the Major. And how many of them were winning? One.

He revealed the details — for Fnatic to reach the main tournament of the year, more than a dozen conditions had to align within ten days. And, miraculously, they all did.

STEP BY STEP: WHAT HAD TO HAPPEN?

To secure their slot, fnatic needed to:

  1. win the Fragadelphia Blocktober 2025 tournament;
  2. see a poor performance from HEROIC at ESL Pro League;
  3. have OG eliminated early from the LAN event in Riga;
  4. watch M8 ex-Inner Circle lose their key match;
  5. get unexpected results in the EPL groups so that M8 couldn’t catch up in points;
  6. see SAW lose to 9INE;
  7. benefit from Virtus.pro’s visa issues that kept them out of some tournaments;
  8. and finally, witness early exits from Liquid and NiP at FRAG.

A combination of events that seemed practically impossible became reality. Fnatic secured one of the final Major spots, taking the last slot in the European ranking.

VRS AND RANKING SITUATION

Fnatic currently hold the #24 position globally (VRS #22), showing a rise after a long summer slump. Their peak came in mid-September when the team reached #23, keeping their qualification hopes alive.

A streak of four consecutive wins and the Blocktober triumph earned the team roughly +45 rating points, which became the decisive factor in their Major qualification.

RECENT TOURNAMENT RESULTS AND FORM TREND

Over the past month, Fnatic have competed across multiple levels:

  • Fragadelphia Blocktober 2025 — 1st place (wins over 9INE, OG, BIG)
  • Birch Cup 2025 — 5–8th place
  • Exort The Proving Grounds S4 — 3–4th place
  • Betclic Clash Summer 2025 — 2nd place

Their favorite map is Anubis, where the team has a 100% win rate over the past three months, while Train remains their primary pick — with a 69.6% win rate.

FRAGADELPHIA BLOCKTOBER 2025: THE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

The victory at Fragadelphia Blocktober 2025 proved decisive. Fnatic defeated OG (2:0), BIG (2:1), and in the final overcame 9INE with a score of 3:2.

This run became one of the team’s best performances of the past year. On key maps Train and Inferno, it was blameF and KRIMZ who carried the team through the crucial moments.

FUTURE GOALS ON THE ROAD TO A STABLE RETURN TO THE TOP

Fnatic have earned the chance to prove that their qualification is no fluke. Ahead lies a preparation bootcamp before the Major, with consistency being the ultimate test. Amid a packed ESL Pro Tour schedule, the team must maintain their tempo to secure a stable top-20 position.

Despite all the skepticism, Fnatic are back on the big stage once again — and this time, it’s deserved, even if the universe aligned only once out of 14 million possible timelines.
