There’s not a day without drama in the CS scene — this time, the Swedish team Metizport is in the spotlight. The organization faced a wave of criticism after posting an ironic response to a racist comment about their black coach, Ahmed “abdi” Abdi.
The beginning of the conflict
Under one of the news posts about Metizport, a user from Serbia left a provocative comment:
You decided to remind us in the very first sentence that he’s Swedish, but given his name and appearance — that’s not true.
The official Twitter account of the club replied:
Abdi was Swedish 16 years before Serbia even became a country 👍 https://t.co/4tvqbhYJFZ

This tweet quickly gained over 100,000 views and sparked heated debate — part of the community supported the joke, while many others called it “inappropriate” and “unnecessary.”

Context and consequences
Metizport is known for its social media activity and frequent humor, but this time, the line between sarcasm and provocation, according to part of the community, was crossed. And while fans of the team note that it was a response to a racist comment, the very fact that historical context was used in the reply triggered a wave of debate.
So far, Valve and PGL have not commented on the situation. However, similar incidents have previously affected partnership programs and team reputations in regional competitions.
