The organizers of IEM Atlanta 2026 have officially revealed the lineup for the main stage of the tournament, as well as the teams that will compete in the closed qualifiers. The event will take place from May 11 to 17 in Atlanta with a prize pool of $1,000,000, but the community’s attention was drawn not only by the scale of the event, but also by an unexpectedly large number of declined invites.

IEM Atlanta

This year, the formation of the IEM Atlanta lineup was accompanied by noticeable adjustments from ESL. Several teams from the top positions in the rankings decided not to take part in the tournament, which significantly affected the final pool of participants and opened the door for squads from lower VRS slots and qualification stages.

Main stage of IEM Atlanta 2026

Sixteen teams will compete in the main event, determined through direct invitations and replacements following declines. Among the confirmed participants are Natus Vincere, Vitality, FaZe Clan, Astralis, Team Liquid, B8, NRG, Legacy, GamerLegion, paiN Gaming, M80, and BC.Game. This lineup will shape the competition for the championship title and the largest share of the prize pool.

At the same time, the organizers confirmed that FURIA, PARIVISION, Falcons, Spirit, MOUZ, G2, 3DMAX, Aurora, and The Mongolz declined their invitations to the tournament, marking one of the most significant waves of refusals in Intel Extreme Masters events in recent times.

Closed qualifiers: global and Americas regions

Alongside the announcement of the main lineup, ESL also presented the participants of the closed qualifiers. In the global qualifier, teams such as fnatic, ENCE, Inner Circle, BetBoom, EYEBALLERS, Alliance, and other representatives from Europe and Asia will fight for a spot in the main event. For the Americas region, separate qualification slots were given to teams including Passion UA, VOCA, Rave, and BOSS.

The bracket for the global closed qualifier was also revealed, immediately outlining potentially intense matchups from the very first rounds and showing that the battle for the final spots at IEM Atlanta will be no less fierce than the tournament itself.

What the mass declines of invites mean

The large number of declined invitations may indicate a crowded spring calendar for top teams, a priority on preparing for other events, or strategic decisions regarding roster workload. For ESL, this increases the importance of the VRS system and qualifiers, while for less established teams it represents a real opportunity to make a name for themselves on the stage of a tournament with a million-dollar prize pool.

Updated list of participants

IEM Atlanta 2026 promises to be one of the key tournaments of the first half of the year, even despite the absence of several top brands. The updated lineup of participants, intrigue surrounding the closed qualifiers, and an unconventional tournament bracket create the conditions for unexpected results and new heroes on the Counter-Strike scene. Already in May, it will become clear who managed to make the most of the opportunity that emerged after the wave of declined invitations.
