Founded in 2017, the Brazilian team FURIA has faced many trials throughout its Counter-Strike esports career. With top talents like FalleN, yuurih, YEKINDAR, KSCERATO, and molodoy, the team seems to have finally found the recipe for success! Recently, they made a major breakthrough in the Brazilian CS scene by winning a decisive match.

It was a true moment of deliverance for the team, which continues to participate in CS esports history with its determination, resilience, and, above all, its legend: FalleN. Here’s everything you need to know about FURIAs’ comeback !

An Historic Victory in Belgrade

On September 21, 2025, FURIA won FISSURE Playground 2 by defeating The MongolZ 3-2 in an epic grand final in Belgrade. This was an important moment for the squad, marking their very first T1 Tournament title after 38 attempts. Throughout the tournament, the players delivered a stellar and consistent performance, racking up big wins against G2, Falcons, Astralis… and ultimately pulling off an epic final against The MongolZ. Molodoy, who joined the team last April, was a standout performer with 99 kills in the grand final and a 1.19 rating, earning him the MVP title of the match!

This is a decisive victory for FURIA, who can finally take a (well deserved) breath of fresh air, of victory! The team had been chasing this moment for years, falling short in several finals and key matches. FURIA had only reached the finals of major circuit tournaments once before, at the ECS Season 7 Finals in London in 2019, but they hadn’t managed to break into the winners’ circle. They had also reached multiple LAN semi-finals at major or international-level tournaments (for example, IEM Rio 2024) but were knocked out despite strong individual performances and roaring home crowds. This time, in front of ecstatic fans, they finally did it!

A Win for the Team, but also for the Brazilian Scene

This victory isn’t just huge for FURIA, it’s a major win for the entire Brazilian CS scene, which had been eagerly waiting for a Tier 1 LAN triumph. Before FISSURE Playground 2, the last international-wide tournament title for a Brazilian team dated back to October 2017, when SK Gaming won the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals. While FURIA had won smaller LANs in the past (for instance, Elisa Masters Espoo in late 2023), those tournaments did not carry the same prestige as something like FISSURE. Now, after years of drought, a Brazilian team has brought the country back to the top tier of CS once again.

FalleN Eternal: The Legend Lives On

Although he wasn’t crowned MVP of the FISSURE Playground 2 final, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo (often nicknamed “The Professor”) remains at the heart of this story. Throughout the final and the entire tournament, he may no longer be the dominant AWPer of ten years ago, but his strategic impact remains immense. His clarity in calling, his composure in clutch situations, and his ability to keep the team calm under pressure continue to be crucial.

FalleN’s game sense and leadership played a central role in this victory. On Nuke, during the final against The MongolZ, as the opponents started a comeback, FalleN secured key rounds and used his experience to stabilize the squad and create the cohesion needed to close out the match. He embodies continuity for Brazilian CS : he is a player who has seen it all, won it all, but still gives his all, even in a meta that might no longer favor his style.

After 20 years of competing, he still gives incredible performances and stands as a living legend of the CS scene. FalleN may no longer top the stat charts or dominate in raw firepower, but his mentorship, strategic mind, and ability to clutch in high-pressure moments remain invaluable.

Conclusion

With this victory at FISSURE Playground 2, FURIA has written a new chapter : one of resilience, perseverance, and ultimate achievement. Brazil had not seen a Big Event victory since 2017, and FURIA accomplished it with a roster that is reaching its peak. Not only did the team finally win a Big Event, but FalleN also returned to the top after years without a major title at this level. This zlso confirms that FURIA’s decision to opt for a more internationally-styled roster is paying off. If they maintain this momentum, FURIA could become a true contender in the CS international scene, not just a participant.

This win also gives FURIA significant points in the Valve Regional Standings, guaranteeing them a spot at the Budapest Major in November, where the team will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated contenders. Fans now wait eagerly to see what comes next. Is this just a brief resurgence, or the beginning of a new era for FURIA ? The answer will surely depend on their upcoming matches at the Major.
