VRS analyst Udknud has highlighted a potential Major qualification problem involving Astralis and FUT if the reported move of Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov to Astralis is completed.
The unusual scenario could emerge if FUT do not play the five matches required to update their VRS roster before the Major invitation cutoff, leaving cmtry registered on both the FUT and Astralis roster cards.
cmtry could remain on two VRS rosters
Astralis recently moved Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard to the bench and are expected to rebuild the starting lineup ahead of the Major.
cmtry is reportedly close to joining Astralis on loan from FUT, while Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek has also been linked with the second open position.
Udknud pointed out that the move could create an unusual VRS situation if FUT fail to complete five matches with the new lineup.
What if FUT doesn’t play 5 matches at PGL Bucharest? It could happen after all.
Five matches are required for a changed lineup to receive an updated VRS roster card. If FUT do not reach that threshold, cmtry could theoretically remain part of the roster registered for FUT while also appearing on the new Astralis lineup.
About the Astralis changes ->
Did FUT think this one through??
What if FUT doesn’t play 5 matches at PGL Bucharest?
It could happen afterall..Then cmtry will be invited to the major for both FUT and Astralis and then cmtry will have to choose which team he will represent?
@StrikerHLTVorg covered this last major race in this article
https://t.co/ua6MXqoIr9A more unlikely scenario, but still..
What if Astralis went 0-2 at both events they have left?
Then both Hooxi and Jabbi is invited to the major if Astralis still qualifies and since you can only register 1 sub Astralis would have to field 1 of them to achieve a valid lineup.Astralis going 0-2 at the upcoming Pulse is almost impossible though, so this is more to entertain the thought 😉

Only one roster could accept a Major invitation
The situation becomes important if both Astralis and FUT earn invitations to PGL Singapore Major 2026 while cmtry remains part of both VRS roster cards.
Valve previously clarified this type of situation when similar questions appeared during an earlier Major qualification cycle.
If one player is included on multiple VRS rosters, only one of those intact rosters can accept a Major invitation. Major rules require the registered roster to match the invited roster.
That means the situation would not simply allow cmtry to freely choose which team to represent. Instead, one of the two roster cards would be unable to accept the invitation while the player remains duplicated.
The scenario is still hypothetical and depends on several conditions, most importantly the move to Astralis being completed and FUT failing to update the roster through five matches.
HooXi and jabbi create another theoretical scenario
Udknud also highlighted a second and even less likely situation involving the two players recently moved to the bench by Astralis.
If Astralis fail to complete enough matches with the new lineup before the Major cutoff, HooXi and jabbi could theoretically remain part of the VRS roster that earns the invitation.
Teams are allowed to register only one substitute for the Major. If both benched players remain necessary to preserve an intact invited roster, Astralis could therefore be forced to use at least one of them to field a valid lineup.
For this scenario to happen, Astralis would need to fail to update the VRS roster during the remaining events before the cutoff. Udknud himself described the possibility as highly unlikely.
Roster changes create new risks close to the Major cutoff
The situation illustrates how roster moves close to a Major invitation deadline can create consequences beyond the competitive strength of a lineup.
Astralis are in a strong position in the VRS race after recent results, but replacing two players means the organization still needs the new roster to be properly reflected in the ranking before invitations are finalized.
For FUT, the number of matches played with the updated lineup could also become important if cmtry completes the reported move.
Neither scenario is guaranteed to happen, but the current VRS rules mean the timing of the remaining matches could become an important factor for both teams before PGL Singapore Major 2026.
