Aurora have eliminated M80 from Esports World Cup 2026 after a confident 2-0 victory in the Group A lower-bracket first round. The Turkish-led roster won both maps 13-9 and will now face JijieHao in its next elimination match.
This result was especially important because Aurora had no room for error. Meanwhile, M80’s EWC 2026 campaign ends after two closely contested maps that never reached the deciding Anubis.
Aurora Take Dust2 and Inferno
The best-of-three began on Dust2, Aurora’s map pick. Aurora built a narrow 7-5 lead in the first half and then closed the map 13-9 after winning the second half 6-4.
M80 then selected Inferno, but Aurora again controlled the series. Aurora took an 8-4 advantage before the break and matched M80’s five rounds in the second half to secure another 13-9 result.

XANTARES Named Match MVP
İsmailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş was the standout player of the series and finished as Aurora’s highest-rated player. He posted a 1.67 Rating 3.0 across the two maps, along with 47 kills, 103.4 ADR and a 79.5% KAST rating.
Özgür “woxic” Eker also had a strong series with a 1.39 rating. For M80, Mason “Lake” Sanderson led his team with a 1.13 rating, but it was not enough to keep the North American side alive in the tournament.
VRS Impact After the Series
The win also improved Aurora’s Valve Regional Standings position. Aurora gained 34 VRS points, moving from 1,665 points and 15th place to 1,699 points and 13th place.
M80, in contrast, dropped from 1,356 points and 48th place to 1,351 points and 49th place. Aurora now continue their EWC 2026 lower-bracket run against JijieHao, while M80 leave the tournament.
Aurora Stay Alive at EWC 2026
Aurora’s 2-0 win over M80 keeps the team in contention at Esports World Cup 2026. The squad showed composure in decisive moments on both Dust2 and Inferno, while XANTARES delivered the series’ most influential performance.
The victory sends Aurora into the next lower-bracket match against JijieHao. M80, meanwhile, have been eliminated from the tournament after their defeat.
