BBL and Betclic have qualified for PGL Bucharest 2027 after taking the two available spots in the European Closed Qualifier. Their results complete the 16-team field for the $1,000,000 tournament, which will take place from January 17–24 in Bucharest.
The two qualifier winners join 14 teams that previously accepted direct invitations through the October VRS.
BBL complete unbeaten upper bracket run
BBL secured the first qualification spot without dropping into the lower bracket.
The Danish lineup opened the qualifier with a 2:0 victory over EYEBALLERS before beating ex-RUSTEC 2:1. They then defeated Betclic 2:1 in the upper bracket final to lock in a place at the LAN.
The result gives BBL their first notable Tier 1 event appearance since the organization entered Counter-Strike at the end of August.
The qualification also comes shortly after the addition of Mikkel “MistR” Thomsen, who recently replaced Jonas “Boye” Boye Østergaard in the starting lineup.
Betclic recover to claim second spot
Betclic took the longer route to Bucharest.
The Polish team started with a 2:1 victory over Eternal Fire and followed it with a 2:0 win against Nemesis.
A 1:2 loss to BBL in the upper bracket final forced Betclic into the deciding match, where they faced Nemesis for a second time.
Betclic won the rematch 2:0 and secured the final available spot at PGL Bucharest 2027.
The qualification marks the first notable event appearance for Betclic since PGL Bucharest 2025.
