As Team Vitality continue their dominant run through 2026, the road to a potential third consecutive Major title is getting closer and closer. And while the French organization remains the clear favorite, two teams stand above the rest as the most credible challengers, NAVI and Spirit. Both teams recently lifted trophies, both have shown they can compete deep into elite events, and both possess the kind of individual firepower and experience needed to threaten Vitality on Counter-Strike’s biggest stage.
NAVI, the Most Complete Challenger
NAVI may be the most balanced threat to Vitality heading into Cologne. After an inconsistent end to 2025, the international roster has regained momentum in 2026, winning ESL Pro League Season 23 before adding IEM Atlanta to its trophy cabinet, a strong signal that the team has found consistency again at the right moment.
What makes them particularly dangerous is their structure. Unlike teams that rely heavily on individual brilliance, NAVI remain one of the most tactically disciplined rosters in Counter-Strike. Aleksib’s leadership under B1ad3 guidance gives the team stability, while players like b1t and makazze provide enough firepower to challenge any opponent. They also have direct experience against Vitality in high-pressure matches, having reached the BLAST Rivals final earlier this season before falling 3-0 but winning in the latest head to head at IEM Atlanta, which gives them valuable confidence heading into the Major.

Their biggest challenge remains their ceiling. While they have a team oriented structure that makes them extremely difficult to beat, Vitality’s peak still appears higher than NAVI’s one. Especially in playoffs where the French organization has consistently looked untouchable in recent times.
The saving grace for NAVI could be their Ukrainian sniper. Since replacing s1mple in 2023, w0nderful was always a consistent piece that seemed to lack brilliance in the most important moments. But, in 2026 something changed for him as he became the savior for his team in those matches. At both the ESL Pro League and IEM Atlanta he was the highest rated player of the final with a 1.56 and 1.44 respectively. He also topped the server in their victory against Vitality at Atlanta where he posted an impressive 1.45 rating, far above anyone else in the server.
Spirit and donk, Against The Best Team of All Time
If NAVI represents structure, Spirit had for the longest time embodied raw firepower. Even with some inconsistency in recent months, the Russian side remains the team with the highest individual ceiling outside of Vitality. At the center of that sits donk, the most feared rifler in the world and the kind of player capable of shifting an entire event on his own.
Spirit recently reminded everyone of their level by winning PGL Astana with a convincing run, and even changing some of their weak points. For this event, and with the addition of academy coach S0tF1k, Spirit has seen a clear uptick in utility usage.

The biggest question surrounding Spirit is consistency. Against lower opposition, their quality is usually enough. Against elite teams in long series, the cracks have appeared more often. If donk delivers at his absolute peak and the rest of the roster follows, Spirit can beat anyone. Doing it consistently across an entire Major remains the unanswered question.
Statistically speaking in 2026 donk is still the best player in the world, tied with ZywOo, with a 1.37 rating at Big Events. While he slightly drop in playoffs with a 1.28 average this year, his final against Falcons at PGL Astana and his event in general was outstanding, even for donk. While he grabbed the MVP with a 1.61 rating across 14 maps, he was still brilliant in the playoffs with an average of 1.58 and a final at 1.52 against Kiko and m0NESY.

Falcons and FURIA, Dangerous Outsiders Still Missing
Falcons and FURIA both deserve a place in the conversation, though for different reasons. Falcons possess one of the most individually talented rosters in the world, with names capable of competing with anyone on paper, and the recent addition of proven captain Karrigan could elevate the team to the next level. m0NESY’s is still the best player of this Falcons team. The 4th best player of 2025 seems to be even better than last year as he averaged a 1.27 rating at Big Event this year, the 3rd best player this year only behind ZywOo and donk.
FURIA’s concern on the other hand lies in reliability against elite opposition and in the toughest of moments. While they can create problems, they have not consistently shown the depth required to beat the very best across multiple playoff series and thus remain dangerous outsiders rather than genuine favorites. Molodoy, FURIA shining star finished 2025 as the 6th best player in the world and the obvious rookie of the year with a 1.14 rating on average with MVP performances coming toward the end of the year. If he seemed to struggle a bit at the start of the year, he’s still at a staggering 1.13 rating at Big Event

Falcons still struggle to translate their firepower into sustained results and long-term stability remaining open questions despite the talent available. And FURIA still lack the tactical depth and reliability needed to consistently close out deep playoff runs against the very best. Both teams can be a serious dark horse and create problems for any top teams, but compared to NAVI or Spirit, they remain one step behind in the race to realistically challenge Vitality for the Major title.

The Team Everyone Has to Beat
Despite the resurgence of NAVI, the explosive potential of Spirit, and the lurking threat posed by Falcons and FURIA, the reality remains unchanged. Vitality is still the team every contender measures themselves against.
In 2026 they won multiple trophies, a second Intel Grand Slams and now they have the possibility of matching Astralis with a third consecutive Major title. All those results helped shift the conversation from whether Vitality can win, to who can realistically stop them. And if Cologne can provide the answer, the current list remains very short on who can beat the best team of all time.
