Another detail related to the new pet system has been spotted in the CS2 main menu. The player profile card now directly shows that for the next rank-up, you can receive feed for your pet.
Feed appeared among the rewards
A separate reward hint is now displayed in the experience information menu. Alongside the weekly XP bonus and Weekly Care Package, the game reports that during the next rank-up, the player will also receive feed for their pet.
This once again shows that the pet system in CS2 is gradually being integrated into the already familiar progression system. Feed effectively becomes another reward tied to earning experience and increasing the profile rank.
Pets are becoming part of progression
Previously, the main motivation for leveling up the profile remained weekly item rewards. Now another type of resource is being added to them, one connected not to skins or containers, but to the new pet mechanic.
It is especially interesting that the information about feed is placed directly in the profile card. In other words, the player does not need to look for a separate menu — the system immediately shows exactly what they will receive after the next rank-up.
The new system is becoming more visible
The appearance of such a message also makes the pet mechanic much clearer. If some of its elements could previously remain unclear, the game now directly explains one of the ways to obtain feed.
It seems that Valve is gradually tying pets to regular CS2 activity rather than creating a completely separate progression system for them. This means that to receive feed, it is enough to keep playing, earn XP, and increase the profile rank.
What this means for players
The main change is still fairly simple: the next rank-up can bring not only the standard Weekly Care Package, but also feed for a pet. At least that is how it is now displayed in the profile card in the main menu.
Thus, the new mechanic is gradually becoming part of the usual CS2 cycle. And if the developers continue expanding the pet system, increasing the profile rank may receive even more additional rewards.
