CS2 Receives New Update: Ancient, Shoots, and Bug Fixes

Last night Valve released a new patch for Counter-Strike 2, addressing several key aspects of the game. The developers focused on improvements to the Ancient and Shoots maps, fixed a number of technical issues and bugs that affected gameplay, and enhanced overall client stability. In addition, players have reported a noticeable FPS boost after the update, making the game smoother and more comfortable to play.

• Restored the rooftop decorations on “house” near the CT spawn.
• Re-enabled wallbanging through plywood in “cave.”
• Updated daytime ambient sounds.
• Fixed items getting stuck behind a pile of rubble on the T side of the B site.

• Fixed a bug where the viewmodel would stick to the camera when cl_lock_camera was enabled.
• Fixed issues with fullscreen windowed mode (extreme aspect ratios, incorrect stretching).
• Fixed incorrect relative mouse movement on Linux.

FPS Boost

Players have also noted that the update improved FPS performance, which should positively impact gameplay smoothness.

It is worth noting that just a few days ago, on August 14, CS2 received one of its largest updates in recent memory — a massive 4.4 GB patch. That update significantly reworked maps, introducing night versions of Ancient and Shoots, while also overhauling Ancient’s materials with new shaders and blending parameters.

Developers also put a strong focus on visuals, delivering major changes to weapon animations to make them smoother and more realistic. On top of that, the patch included new cosmetic content for collectors, most notably the vibrant M4A1-S | Solitude skin and the fresh Deluge Music Kit Box.
