The Counter-Strike tournament at the Esports World Cup 2026 surpassed one million peak viewers, marking a major year-over-year audience increase. The event reached 1,037,179 Peak Viewers during the Grand Final between Team Spirit and FUT Esports.

This milestone made Counter-Strike the fourth tournament at EWC 2026 to cross one million Peak Viewers. Moreover, Team Spirit’s title run and FUT Esports’ Grand Final appearance gave the event a high-profile competitive conclusion.

Major Growth From 2025

EWC 2026 ran from August 12 to August 23 with a $2 million prize pool. The tournament generated 27,935,530 Hours Watched across 90 hours and 35 minutes of airtime. Its average viewership stood at 308,396 concurrent viewers.

In comparison, the 2025 Counter-Strike event peaked at 739,029 viewers. Therefore, the 2026 edition improved its peak audience by roughly 40 percent. The previous tournament recorded 14,414,900 Hours Watched over 41 hours of airtime.

Format Expansion Drives Watch Time

The sharp rise in Hours Watched followed a major format change. EWC 2025 used a compact single-elimination bracket, while EWC 2026 introduced a group stage and an expanded tournament field.

As a result, the 2026 competition had substantially more matches and more than twice as much broadcast time. This extra volume helped total watch time almost double compared with the previous edition.

The expanded schedule also put some pressure on Average Viewers. However, the event still maintained more than 300,000 concurrent viewers on average across its larger amount of content. That result underlines the scale of the tournament’s audience growth.

Most-Watched Matches at EWC 2026

The Grand Final between Team Spirit and FUT Esports was the tournament’s most-watched match, drawing 1,037,179 Peak Viewers on the final day of the playoffs. Team Spirit’s match against Vitality ranked second with 848,081 Peak Viewers on Playoffs Day 3. Meanwhile, FURIA’s playoff meeting with FUT Esports placed third, reaching 811,008 Peak Viewers on Playoffs Day 4.
