The Esports World Cup has officially unveiled the group draw for the Counter-Strike 2 Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), where 64 teams will battle for the final four places at the $2 million EWC 2026 main event. The qualifier begins on August 7 and features several well-known organizations, including Liquid, BC.Game, HEROIC, 100 Thieves, NRG, BIG, Virtus.pro, Eternal Fire, K27, and SAW.
64 teams enter, only four will qualify

The LCQ will be played entirely on LAN over three days. The 64 participating teams have been divided into 16 double-elimination groups of four teams each. The top two teams from every group will advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket, where only four teams will secure qualification for the Esports World Cup.
Every match throughout both the group stage and playoffs will be played as a best-of-three series, leaving little room for mistakes in one of the most competitive qualifiers of the year.
Among the standout groups are:
- Group 6: 1win, BASEMENT BOYS, BC.Game, Citron Esport
- Group 7: HEROIC, 9INE, ABT, REM
- Group 11: 100 Thieves, Eternal Fire, NADEGMNG, SadFamous
- Group 12: Liquid, Metizport, Prestige, Dhala Esport
- Group 14: Acend Club, NRG, Spirit Esports, Vandulken
- Group 16: Virtus.pro, JiJieHao, Zeste Esport, Sangal
The qualifier also includes a number of ambitious regional squads hoping to upset the favorites and reach one of the biggest tournaments of the season.
EWC attracts another stacked field
The strength of the LCQ reflects the growing prestige of the Esports World Cup. All 28 teams eligible for direct invitations through the Valve Regional Standings accepted their places in the main event, while dozens of additional organizations entered the open qualifier for one last opportunity to join them.
With only four qualification spots available, established organizations such as Liquid, BC.Game and HEROIC will have to survive an unforgiving bracket where a single series loss can dramatically complicate their path.
Community reacts to the draw
The announcement quickly sparked discussion across social media, with many fans immediately focusing on potential favorites and difficult groups. Several users highlighted BC.Game as one of the biggest attractions of the qualifier:
BCG qualifying would bring millions of views.
Portuguese fans rallied behind SAW, while supporters of Orion Wanderers celebrated their team’s participation:
- “SAW, I hope.”
- “Hold up we are playing at this event? LET’S GO.”
Others questioned the tournament format, asking whether the opening stage would use Valve Regional Standings seeding, while many fans simply began making early qualification predictions.
