GamerLegion have announced the signing of 21-year-old Polish AWPer Milan “hypex” Polowiec, who will immediately take over the main AWPing duties. His arrival also brings roster changes: Frenchman Jérémy “Kursy” Gast, who only joined this summer, has been moved to the bench.

A new decision from GamerLegion

This transfer has become one of the most important moves for GamerLegion in the second half of 2025. After a string of disappointing results during the summer and a painful start at FISSURE Playground 2 in Belgrade, the organization decided to act decisively and begin rebuilding right away. The face of this transformation is hypex — a young and ambitious Polish sniper tasked with fixing the team’s problem position and bringing stability with the AWP.

Why Kursy didn’t settle

GamerLegion signed Kursy to address their long-standing issue of inconsistency with the AWP role. However, after just two months, he never managed to fit into coach Ashley “ash” Battye’s system. His statistics and individual performances did not meet expectations, while the team as a whole continued to lag behind more ambitious Tier-1 and Tier-2 squads.

The poor start at FISSURE Playground 2, where GamerLegion lost to TYLOO in their opening Swiss match, only highlighted the need for change. The organization chose to act proactively, and the AWP role was filled with the transfer of hypex.

Who is hypex?

21-year-old Milan “hypex” Polowiec is considered one of the most promising Polish players of the new generation. In less than a year with Betclic Apogee, he established himself as a reliable sniper with strong individual performances:

  • 1.14 average rating during his time with Betclic;
  • 1.08 rating at his first Big Event — PGL Masters Bucharest 2025, where he faced elite competition (FURIA, Astralis, The MongolZ, Aurora, FaZe);
  • earned the status of the roster’s star player and became Poland’s first real attempt to return to the international stage since the legendary Virtus.pro era.

His style of play is defined by aggression in key rounds, a willingness to take initiative, and consistent clutch performances. These were precisely the qualities that GamerLegion had been lacking recently.

Debut at ESL Pro League

hypex will make his debut with the new roster very soon — at ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 1, which kicks off on September 27 in Stockholm. The tournament will be a major test for GL, as the group stage will once again pit them against some of the world’s top teams.

For hypex, this will be a true “survival school”: he will need to prove immediately that he is ready for the Tier-1 level, not just for matches against European mid-tier opponents. At the same time, for the club, it’s an opportunity to finally secure a stable AWPer around whom a new system can be built.

Double change: Kursy and sl3nd benched

Following hypex’s signing, the club confirmed that Kursy is being benched, joining Hungarian sniper Henrich “sl3nd” Hevesi, who has been inactive since June. As a result, GamerLegion now have two reserve AWPers, and the coming months will reveal whether they find new teams.

For GL, this move signals a commitment to one project: making hypex the cornerstone of a new era.

GamerLegion roster after FISSURE Playground 2

  • Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
  • Erik “ztr” Gustafsson
  • Sebastian “Tauson” Tauson Lindelof
  • Oldřich “PR” Nový
  • Milan “hypex” Polowiec
  • Coach: Ashley “ash” Battye
  • Bench: Henrich “sl3nd” Hevesi, 🇫🇷 Jérémy “Kursy” Gast

Community Reaction

  • The announcement of hypex’s transfer sparked active discussion on social media. His former club, Betclic Apogee, bid him farewell with warm words: “Take good care of him ”, to which GamerLegion replied: “We will”.
  • GL fans were divided in their opinions. Some welcomed the signing, highlighting the Pole’s potential: “He has all the potential. Now to make something out of it” or “Welcome to the new Polish fans of GamerLegion”. Polish supporters, in turn, greeted the news with excitement, shouting: “COME ON BOSS LET’S FUCKING GO”.
  • However, there was also criticism. Some users pointed out that the club had already missed opportunities to sign strong AWPers before: “First miss out on phzy, and now miss out on Nawwk, embarrassing”. Others expressed sympathy for Kursy: “What about kursy :(”.
  • There was no shortage of humor either: comments included jokes about a “honeymoon to an EPL win” and wishes that the influx of new Polish fans would remain reasonable in discussions.
    Overall, the reaction proved emotional but mostly supportive: hypex received plenty of messages such as “You’re flying!!!!! ” and “Welcome ”.

What this means for GL’s future

GamerLegion are clearly investing in the long term. hypex may not yet be a superstar of the caliber of donk or m0NESY, but he is a player who could become the foundation for consistent results in the coming seasons.

His arrival solves the team’s biggest headache — the AWP role. If the rest of the roster can adjust to their new roles, GL have a chance to return to contention at big LAN events, rather than remaining stuck as temporary underdogs.

Up next is ESL Pro League — and it will reveal whether hypex is the missing piece of the puzzle for GamerLegion.
